so I'm feeling semi retarded and thinking about putting a computer in my yj. Anyone done this to their rigs? Install pics? Also what kind of monitors. I'm considering just a cheapy 7" touchscreen using an old lappy but wanna know what/if anyone else has done.

but in all seriousness I have like 4 lappys laying around and for 200 bucks I could prob hook it up to have all my dvds, mp3's, and run my sprint wireless out of the car. Never thought damn I wish I could check my email @ 70mph?

I had a laptop in my work truck. I just made a pedistule with gas pipe, a couple bolts, and a small piece of plywood. For mounting the pipe to the floor, I used one of those round disc shaped gas pipe pieces that mounts pipe through a wall. (Dont know what its called)Used the same for mounting it to the plywood.
 
I think you should do it! That way you can check your email, while reading a book, talking on the phone, eating your pop tarts, and diggin' on the radio!
 
Hell I thought it was tokin' on a number and diggin on the radio....
 
Side note:
I hate ppl that do/have chit like this. It makes one hell of a day trying to get around and not getting hit by people who are more into everything else than driving. Don't do it, you will get killed. Ill post some pictures if need be of wrecks, some I've been to, others not.

Hey I mean no offense by this but please stfu. You really have no idea what I'm using this for. Secondly I doubt you have ever interacted with a setup like this nor know the functions it could provide or how much of a "distraction" it will be to my driving. You wanna help me out? Find a way for me to light my joint driving a leaf sprung jeep so I don't get hash ash all over my khakis or design a cup holder for my 40oz (yes I called jcwhitney and they said they completely sold out entirely to the state of mississippi). And yes please send me pics of your life experiences @ age 17 so I can be enlightened. :flipoff2: Joel thanks for the info looks like pretty cool unit.

Huh?

How is it any different than having radio, navigation, cell phone, etc? I didn't build mine to surf the internet, reply to emails, watch Big Woody's latest wheeling video, and reply to your posts on NC4x4 while I am driving down the road.
 
In no way did I say I had life experence's over you. But I spend most of my time on the road and in hospitals and see people who are in there b/c of car wrecks while they were focusing more on somehting else than driving... that is all. But if you use it while stopped fine by me but I still don't like the idea. BTW not a personal attack on eather of you drivers in general

Do you really know what functions it serves is the point. Cuz I think you are really confused in which case you shouldn't have said anything. Know if you'd like me to explain the purpose I'd be more than happy to.
 
Yes I would love to know the purpose. I was just pissed off from my last emergency call. We were on the beltline with lights on and someone about hit us. Thats what encougred my post

I think its obvious you have no idea wtf you are talking about now. So we should all take out our radios also? I'm not talking about mounting a lappy on my console and surfing the internet. I'm talking about setting up a system for dvd, mp3, and navigation use. And before you go ahead and jam that head in the ass one more time no not me watching the dvds. :flipoff2:
