I think you guys are emphasizing Futbalfanatic's point:

I don't think he's calling out you guys in particular, its the population in general. Ive never stabbed anyone, but Im not allowed to take my friggin pocketknife in the courthouse because somebody else did. Sure, its generalizing and stereotyping. But, everyone always does the right thing in their mind and thinks the problem is everyone else. You may only do something stupid once or twice a year, heck, maybe less. So does everybody else. Thats why driving isn't a constant demolition derby. Adding distractions is never a good thing, so think before you use it.
 
thanks jeepinmatt... I was never good with words. Like he said, I wasn't trying to bash on you or anyone in particual, just the fact that drivers are getting more and more distractions. But I appoligize on the fact that you thought it was a personal attack and me taking the fact that there are other dumbarses on the road. There are more points I want to make but like I said I'm no good with words on the I-net

Edit: Joel I don't use my cell phone while driving, I do have a radio but thats it.

I rarely use mine either. I know I drive worse when I am on the phone. That being said, I built it for a variety of reasons. Navigation and audio when on the road. My wife and I like to wander around NC and take lots of pictures. It is nice to stop on the side of a road and download all the pics off of the camera. Internet was a no brainer but again is for the side of the road. On the trail, I like to map out where I have been, download video and pics from the cameras, etc. That being said try being a little more tactful next time. And I hope you don't kill anyone changing the radio station or adjusting the volume.

'bout all sheriff and state patrol cruisers have 'puters mounted in em, in reach of the driver. And they use em while driving!

..ironic, ain't it!

...it aint the toys, its the idiots that use em. For some folks, using the turn signals is too much of a distraction!:rolleyes:
 
back to the topic at hand.
How much did that set up cost you. From the little surfing that I've done it seems like its a pretty penny. Touch screens are 500+ a pop
 
I have to agree with futbolfanatic, anything that takes your eyes off the road for more than a glance is a distraction. Radio included. Back home we had a guy in a VW beetle hit a one ton chevy head on because he was messing with the radio. He's dead now. Being a distracted driver is a damn easy way to die. My first post was making fun of people who I've seen doing everything in it. Yes, Ive actually seen some one with a laptop in their lap driving down I 40 in rush hour traffic, Yes I've see a guy reading a book while driving up Capital Blvd in rush hour traffic. How stupid can you be to think you can control a situation when you aren't even paying attention to it? They've done studys and a cell phone using driver is as dangerous as someone with a .08 BAC. And you can actually keep your eyes on the road while talking on a cell phone, just not your mind. To the OP go for it, Just try and keep in mind not to use it while on the road at all, even at traffic lights. Those people not paying attention at traffic lights just make me want to push them through the intersection when the light turns green.

As a motorcycle rider I couldn't agree with you more. I find it hard to view bad driving as anything less than attempts to kill me. When you think about it, gun ownership is a constitutional right, driving a car is a privilege one has to earn.

Can you imagine people handling guns with the carelessness that they drive cars? I don't have numbers in front of me but I'd guess that in the USA cars cause many more fatalities than guns...
