I've been with Sprint since '97 during the Nextel craze. Current phone is an iphone 6 plus. Contract has expired. Service is kinda okay i guess and it's time to upgrade. My current plan is <$200 per month for two phones with unlimited everything. And i only need one phone now with my same #.
Thoughts and opinions on other carriers?
And don't give me any shit because i will come find you.

Verizon is hands down the best for service around here. I switched to Sprint last year and it's been ok, works most places I go, just slower. But I will probably be going back to Verizon when my contract is up.

Ive been using straight talk for 4/5 years now, unlimted everything for 45 a month. They run off Verizon towers and except for a small area on I-77 near Mnt Airey Ive had coverage everywhere Ive went.BUT you have to buy your own phone and the Iphones are pretty expensive.

I'm in the same boat wanting to switch carriers. I have Verizon, and the funny thing is, my service is great everywhere but home and work.

I have a Verizon personal phone and AT&T work phone. The Verizon one always has signal. The ATT one generally has signal. The further from town you get, the more of a difference it makes. 2 Verizon phones and a hotspot with 4 GB data plan is about $140/month, but knock $40-50 off of that if you bring your own phone.

Verizon. Probably still get a decent signal in west Texas.

Great coverage from home all the way up thru New Mexico/Colorado/Utah, but absolutely ZERO coverage in NorthEast Arizona (Navajo Nation)

There and anywhere around Deals Gap and Potts Mountain (must have US cellular there, or you have to go out to the sand mine)
Those are the only 3 places I've been in the country where my Verizon doesn't work for shit.

2 phones, 1 tablet with data and cell access, 4 gig data plan (shared) and international access for $158 a month

went threw this not long ago. Verizon has hands down the best service in WNC. they are usually the most expensive, although with their new plans i think its all about even now.

I use cricket. Had to buy the phone, and it runs on AT&T towers. Cheap!
I usually buy the last model phone for about $200-300 on ebay or amazon. No need for the absolute latest greatest.

Straight Talk. You can keep your number and you can choose whether you go on Verizon towers (red map on box) or ATT towers (blue map on box). For unlimited everything its only $45 per month and no contracts.

Do you ever travel out Gumtree to Old 52? I drop calls every time I drive through, just past Friendship Ledford and past the crazy mans gas station. Then it gets better again. I spoke with Verizon yesterday and she said that is the middle between 3 towers and signal would not be good.

I live in Meadowlands.....so yeah, I drop a call at the 4-way if I'm on the phone every time.

an iphone on straighttalk for many years kept me at the cheapest rates ever experienced along with unlimited data on ATT network (if you get straighttalk verizon you are on their prepaid network which sucks donkey balls). When they did away with their unlimited data and limited to 2.5gb I put me, the wife, an ipad and the in-law's phones all on the same plan. 20gb (10gb phones, 10gb ipad) per month on the ATT byop plan. With veteran discount and including taxes, it came out to 44$ per phone per month with the ipad being $80 a month paying for the extra data. The same plan also gets free calls to canada and mexico

Aren't you eligible for Obamafone.....come find me :flipoff2:

I switched to Verizon 2 years back, Android, mostly unlimited, though I don't need much data. $75/ month. I've asked several times if I could get a Lower plan, due to all the commercials they run. I'm told I have the cheapest plan, & it's No longer offered. If I drop out, my cost goes Up! :poop:

I'm really tempted to switch to the free year of unlimited talk/text/data from Sprint. Just afraid of how bad the coverage may be.

I have tmobile. My fiancee and I both have brand new galaxy s7s and unlimited everything and our bill is $150 a month. They are the only ones that have service at my house and a lot of places around here.

@Paul 1 benefit of going tmobile, you can bitch at @uglyjeepoffroad when service sucks.

Had nextel/sprint yrs ago, had tmobile for a while and vz on & off for a long time. Both are better than sprint.

If i didn't travel much or use phone for work, id look into straight talk or republic wireless.

Verizon = most extensive coverage, most expensive coverage, but their lead is diminishing.
T-Mobile has the best deals imho (yeah, I work there, but no commission for me), if it works where you live, work, and play, can't beat it.
