Census bureau requests

The better question is - why doesn't the census bureau just get all the info from Google? Or from the NSA. You know damn well they have even more info.

That's what I was thinking too....Big Brother got his eyes on you :kaioken:.

Wonder if they'll read this? That would be the bomb. Good luck Mr. President :usa::popcorn:

Why would they need to ask your monthly income? That information is available through the IRS.

That was what I was thinking. Majority of the information they asked for is easily obtainable. Truck and wife's car payment is listed on taxes, as well as income mortgage among other things. I'm 1099 so pretty much all my billing information is readily available and needs to be. They don't need to know the time my wife leaves for work, how long her commute is and what time she returns. I work from home and they certainly don't need to know that but could find out easily on my taxes since I can use part of that as write off. I can understand a general census of information that I was willing to answer but I like to keep my information in as little hands as possible.

Because they are trying to bank on some people being idiots. If you report your income as being $40k to the IRS but when the census taker asks and Jim Bob works mostly in cash he might say $70k factoring in cash deals. Then the IRS has an excuse to bend you over and assrape you.

And the government is probably reading this - FUCK YOU IRS.

Housing and development trends, income and lifestyle trends, etc.

It's a major source of data to determine target markets for new and remodel projects, affordability, needs, wants, etc of the family and housing.

So what you are telling me is that smart people make decisions based on what dumb people (like me) say. And nobody has told you how dumb that sounds until now?

Hence... from an accuracy/efficiency standpoint, better to just get the info from the people actually tracking your real behavior (e.g. Google) rather than relying on people's honesty.

Buuuut - that requires a breach of privacy - people get pretty squeamish when we talk about sharing information about people's habits, demographics, etc between parties.

The reason the census approach seems so inefficient, redundant and unnecessary is because it is specifically designed to be independent and come only from the horse's mouth and NOT breech privacy by asking other 3rd parties for the information.

Lets face it. Life COULD be so convenient and easy if we just let 1 group - lets call it GoogleG - track everything about your life, and give all other parties access to that use that to predict everything else. No need to ever be surveyed for anything again. Hell you wouldn't even have to go out to vote anymore b/c they'd already know your preference. 1 click instant results for loan applications b/c they already know your history and probability of paying off/defaulting. No need to even bother ordering things on Amazon b/c they'll know when you want something AND can afford it, it just shows up.

But I think most of us recognize that the personal freedom cost of convenience exceeds the value, so it's better to deal w/ the inconvenience that comes with privacy.

LOL, I'm guessing there is a typo there, but on the other hand some people make good money and don't work.
You of all people should know how hard it is to make a living in G-ville.A bank on every corner but nobody has any $$.
