Changes to Tint Inspections

If you have dark tint on your front windows, I've always assumed it's a douche ride or a ghetto ride and you suck at driving and are embarrassed to be seen.

My assumption is usually spot on.
I just don't want people seeing me singing along to Taylor Swift at stop lights. If that makes me a douche then I'm ok with it.

Senate Bill 64.....
Yup.
The tint inspection is deleted and replaced by this.

SECTION 3. G.S. 20-127 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 11
"(g) The driver of a vehicle with tinted windows shall roll down the driver side window 12 upon the approach of a law enforcement officer. If the officer approaches from the passenger 13 side, the driver shall roll down the passenger window." 14
SECTION 4. This act becomes effective December 1, 2021, and applies to offenses 15 committed on or after that date.

Sounds like someone with dark window tint slept with your wife.

Ha.

dark front window tint and sucky, annoying, dangerous driving USUALLY go hand in hand. Along with expired plates, multiple exterior lights not working, poorly aimed chinese blue headlights, LED turn signals that flash too fast, subwoofers that rattle the POS car, busted exhaust, and bald tires. USUALLY.

I think you are referring to old ass purple tinted cars. lol

Yea.... multicolored cars with old purple tint and busted taillights are a giveaway.... however newer Nissan, Mitsubishi, Impala, charger, dodge ram, anything squatting, Camaro, 24" wheel having tahoes, usually have excessive front tint, which I don't understand? (Sarcasm)

So Carolina squat is illegal, and tint is legal??

Wait politics worked in my favor and I didn't even have to voice for it?

What's the catch lol

Thats going to be really fun to get the word out and enforce

I always lowered the window anyway when conversing w/ law enforcement - only problems I ever had was when I stepped out of the vehicle.
When conversing, sure... but before they even get to the car? What if its raining, or cold?

As a general rule I try to do everything I can to present myself as friendly and that the situation will be comfortable for both of us.
But I really don't think you or I or most of the people on this board are the folks that cause cops anxiety when approaching a vehicle they can't see inside of.

How many websites and YT videos are out there saying, "don't roll down the window until you have to hand them something, and then only a crack" etc etc. Hell even some drivers ed instructors say it. Now you're going to have people arguing with the cops about not having to bc they don't know the law change. And now imagine this situation in a car w/ darkly tinted windows. Cop could rightly be yelling at them to lower the window before even getting close. They just ignore it. Situation escalates.

First-time dark tint guy here and I am an execption to the bad driver rule stated earlier and dimming the dash light has always been a thing I do at night. Maybe the rule only applies to non-wonton trucks drivers :flipoff2:

Completely agree with you, about being pulled over and doing everything in your power to make the situation safe.

but the idea that idiots are going to listen to the internet about laws and how to interact with law enforcement instead of using critical thinking skills at that moment, those people are the ones that are going to end up a police shooting stat, and maybe they deserve it because they are/were stupid.

Cue "I talked to a lawyer about this and..." post in 3, 2, 1...

Much like getting over when a LEO has someone pulled or not passing a school bus ; getting out of the way of the meat wagon etc.
All these need more enforcement and dissemination.

I understand there is a part of the population who tend to have more anxiety with said situations...

As far as cold or rain, barring torrential downpour, I'm thick & do not melt when wet...doesn't bother me.

Even with guns drawn on me or them reaching for the gun, I do my best to stay calm & slow moving.

I love watching the "sovereign citizens" educate law enforcement on the side of the road without tags, license, etc.

Love watching them get drug out of the window & cuffed more though.
Yep.
Same.

Like I taught my kids - even if you are right. In a car unarmed confronted with a man with a gun and the right to write the narrative is NOT the time to argue. Be polite, respectful and we will fight on even ground in court. Not worth a damn to be right in principle but leaking from a hole in your chest

For me its always both front windows down and hands on the top of the wheel into he gets to car. When asked for license and I tell them where they are and where im going to be reaching. Too many nervous rookie cops.

Speaking of what to do and what not to do during a police stop.... Was in the middle of a fairly epic fox body burnout one night in Rose's parking lot when the smoke started strobing blue. When I say fairly epic, I was on the limiter in 2nd gear for awhile and grabbed 3rd as the lights came on. I get her whoaed down and just stop out in the middle of the lot. This huge cop runs up to the car yelling for me to cut it off, roll down the windows, keep my hands where he can see them, I could have killed someone, was I crazy.....I cut the car off and had the window about 1/2 down and I said (I do not recommend this next part) "hey man before you get too excited there is a loaded .357 in here and I don't know where it is at". Thats when the door kind of simultaneously came open as I was grabbed around the neck and drug out of the car. Cop says "its right there on the console in plain view". I said "could you note that?". Once backup got there and he calmed down they actually let me go with a warning. Well and never drive that car back to their town.

5% all around except the windshield which has 35%. I have extreme light sensitivity and it makes driving at night very tolerable for me. I just roll the side windows down to back up in the dark if I have a trailer.
Jeez what are you a vampire?

Maybe a hybrid. My skin tolerates the light fine but I get an instant migraine from peoples headlights without a tinted windshield. I have to wear my sunglasses at night when I drive something else.

So does this mean you can't get a ticket for it anymore but it may still be checked with your inspection?
