Shooting happened in Charleston SC (where I graduated high school), the gunman is from Eastover SC (where I grew up). Crazy how close to home this hits.

Scary close. My wife and I attend church literally next door to Emanuel AME. Terrible what happened. Hate it for the families and the rest of the church members.
Maybe it is because he went into a black church, made racist comments, and then killed almost all of them because they were black?
When is the last time you heard of a black dude going into a white church and killing a bunch of people because they were white? They might say the same thing if that happened, but it never happens.
well I didn't hear he made an sort of racists comments honestly..
I mean I DO assume it was race related because of the circumstances , but the media should treat it as other stories and not immediately highlight race.
**After hearing more come out about this and his racist background I was mistaken about it being obviously racially motivated.**

First and foremost, my heart goes out to the victims and their families.
To enter a house of God, be welcomed by the members and then murder them is the act of a sociopath coward.
Kinda like ISIS.
The plane taking him back to SC is about to fly right over my house.
One finger salute shall be rendered!
I missed the ramp today from Charleston trying to get home. It took me 30 minutes to get straightened out with all of the cops and blocked roads.
On my drive I listened to several stations and one had an interview of a woman who was in the church. According to her statement he made some racist comments (not for me to repeat online) and then said sorry but you have to die.
My heart goes out to everyone. It is an act of a coward no doubt.
My dad said the same thing, unfortunately in stressful situations a lot of people can't react. Personally my dad couldn't and I know he couldn't pull the trigger. It's about like those who conceal carry and think they could react in stressful situations, but it takes practice, a lot of practice to react efficiently and without error in stressful situations to take down a target cleanly and while at the same time being responsible for those rounds you send down range that pass through the target. Sucks for the church goes that got caught this mess and my heart goes out to those people and their families.

Nailed it. This is exactly why i shoot in USPSA comps.
Anybody can shoot a weapon, i like to be accurate on the targets.
News is saying that he wanted to start a race war, but almost backed out of the whole thing because the people at the church were "so nice to him".
This is the kind of crap that disturbs me. His racism is obviously inherited second-hand and not from real experience with black people. It it were real conviction it wouldn't have mattered how they treated him. I can't stand people that can't think for themselves and just listen to the mindless talk of "whichever wind blows my way".
The joke is on him though. By picking this particular black church, murdering the pastor also meant murdering a state representative. Federal crime even without the whole hate crime thing. I hope he enjoyed his last hours seeing the light of day because it was most likely his last.
I've known some racist individuals both black and white. I've also known a Jewish holocaust survivor who still has the number they tattooed to his arm "branding" him. Hatred like that can change a person. While hatred because of another person's or people group's actions is still wrong, it's at least understandable. Hating someone just because someone told you that you should hate them is just stupid. It only proves how ignorant and arrogant a mindless sheep of a person can be.
