Chevy 5.3 head replacement

Weird...I thought they phased them out around 2004.

It's all back together, but I have one connector I can't figure out. It's half blue and located at the top of the intake on the driver side near the firewall. Anyone know where the other end of this connector goes?

Thanks

That's for the knock sensors. It runs up behind the intake from underneath.

Thank you very much. I found the other end.

Cranked it up, it sounds fine....but the oil pressure gauge won't move and the idiot light says to check oil pressure, so I turned it off after 30 seconds. It idled fine and no odd noises.

Did you plug it back in? Or did it get partially unplugged during disassembly or reassembly?

Well I didn't unplug it, but the intake has to come back off so I can replace the coolant crossover pipe o rings. Didn't look like there were gaskets there originally. Now they are leaking slightly...and now I see there are indeed gaskets there. So I'll check the oil pressure sensor connection then.

And, now it also keeps saying low coolant, but all connections are correct, plenty of coolant in the tank, and nothing concerning the overflow tank connections or other piping was disturbed.

Fun stuff.

They always say low coolant after they're drained and filled back up. It should go away after a while, although it's kind of annoying.

The steam lines have a little aluminum tab gasket under them. It has some gasket stuff sorta bonded to it.

If nothing is out of the ordinary with the oil pressure sending unit...I'd probably just let it run a little longer.

Yeah....saw those gaskets for sale after I went looking for them. I'll get those installed this weekend.

I let it run about 30 minutes and no change with the oil pressure. There was no issue before the repair, so hopefully it's just a loose connection.

Good to know about the low coolant light.
