Chevy followed me home

Build one super hot, and just put a loud exhaust on the other. Then go make some money racing.

Yea, but putting the headers on is a PITA as well.

I guess.. unless you have access to a lift to put the car up on.. then it's cake. :huggy:

oh duh, 98 was first year of LS1 in slomaros....vettes was 97
ok, now i gotta know...WHY lt cars?!?!? and why 2?

I like 97 Lt cars because its the 30th anny for camaros and last year of the Lt car.. CLEAN Lt 6speeds are gettin rarer every year.

The SS has never seen rain or been in the weather. It lives in the shop...the z28 i can have the car i like but i can throw parts on it and blow up stuff and not be out a big investment...and who dosnt want twins:beer:

i just can't see any of the LT cars ever really being an investment, far far far too many made to be rare...

and you should have gotten an LS....you can build a 383 lt, and it'll still the same power as as h/c/i/tune LS1 in most cases

Not really a investment to me as to not wanting to take its value away by moding it.

But as to there being to many made...97 was one of if not the lowest of the SS production, last year of the lt1 and 30th anny..So "IF" i keep it and "IF" i have it 20yrs down the road i think it will be a decent one to have and cruise in.

As for power..i mean if i was looking for raw power i would have got one of the many LS1 cars that were beside this one on the lot.

i keep the z28 a procharger will be in the works..should hold its on against 95% of ls1s i run into..

Boils down to diff strokes for diff folks.

I put a T56 6 speed in a C4 Vette I had, the skip shift thing. If I remember right, I removed the solenoid that forces you to do it, just unscrewed it from the tranny and plugged the hole with a fitting I had if I remember right. Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion though! It was like 10 years or so ago. Or maybe I took the spring out of the solenoid? Or just unplugged it?

The 94 LT1's and back didn't have the optispark vent, the 95's and up did if I remember that right, a little more reliable. But, never hit it with water when it's hot, it'll condensate up and not start for awhile (like at a carwash washing the engine after it's pretty warm).

If you ever get an oil leak, 10 dollars says it's the pressure switch on the LT1.

LT1's are just broke in around 100K.

When my kids are grown - I'm searching for a 96 Ram Air Trans Am Convertible and drop the front about 2" - just to tool around in.

Man im way jealous now. If i didnt have a kid on the way I would so be building the turbo lt1 car of my dreams

ls1tech.com is an awsome tech, and info forum.
Im on it everyday..also try ls1lt1.com, and ls1.com
congrats on another f-body!! :driver:

Not a fan of chevy's either, but thats a good looking car.

I am sure it is a lot of fun to drive! Maybe time to upgrade radar detectors!

Later

I just sold my 97 Z28 in March. It was also a 6-speed and I loved it. The best thing to do with an lt-1 is take that motor and build a 383 stroker out of it alot of places sell a kit to do it. My buddy did his and its a 10sec 1/4 mile car. With just a couple other mods.

The z28 just got droped off for
*fresh paint on the front (rock chips)
* Cowl hood installed with a silver ghost stripe..
* Also just picked up some 18in z06 style wheels for it.
Pics as soon as it gets back from paint

Got the Z back from paint last night. After looking it over in the day light it will be going back to the shop so the painter can fix some screw ups..But other than delaying me another few days nothings hurt.

Didnt get a ghost stripe due to confusion and etc..Semi disapointed with the shop but ill be happy when its back and done right.

Anyways heres some more pics.

i'm scared to even ask what they asked for that......they're INFAMOUS for having nice stuff that carries a premium price. my late friend Tim lived near that place...and we'd go by on the way to RLZ occasionally just to see what they have...first place i ever saw a new ford GT

I ended up buying my Ford 7.3 there, and as stated, they have very clean vehicles. I actually got mine at a good price though. From my experience, good people to deal with.

What are you talking about? While the LS1 is a great motor, that post is pure BS. That's essentially saying that my 96 M6 Low Comp Bob White built 383, w/MTI Heads, LT4 Hot Cam, and T-trim blower running 17.5psi is outmatched by a stock block H/C/I/Sprayed LS1. I don't care how big your shot is, son - unless you know daily driven stock-shortblock LS1s running 9.56 @ 156 on full interior, then you're wrong.

An LT1 isn't any LESS of a motor than an LS1, and the vast majority of tuned LT1 F-body owners will tell you that they chose that platform simply to romp-and-stomp all over LS1 cars....
