Leave it like it is and keep a few cans around for touch-up.

Post pic's of said jeep.

Do you still have the montero?

Give up some spec's on the Jeep also.

Year model?

engine?

stock? or any upgrades?

Tire size?

Are you gonna wheel this or is it a daily driver?

1980 cj5..4cyl...need tires and lift lol. its pretty stock..i just bought it and still tryin to figure out all it needs..and its for sure going off road..just need to get it where i want it

only thing thats been done so far is bondo and sanding..damn i hated that! primed it and got sum spray cans..black..and sprayed it..didnt look to bad but some idiot told me to put rubbing compound and buff it so i tried it on the hood and it looks like shit now and i cant get the crap off! im pissed! bought renegade decal kit for it too.

That sucks, I really don't know enough about getting that stuff off other than sand the hood & re-paint it.

You should have used swirl remover or polishing compound. Rubbing compound is too harsh for what you're doing. If you use any of these compounds with a buffer, keep the buffer moving because all these compounds can cut through paint if you just leave the buffer stationary. If you've never used a buffer before, apply by hand with light pressure.

ETA-you can't get the rubbing compound "off". It has removed some of the paint which is why it looks dull. How many coats of paint did you apply? If you only applied one or two coats, you may just want to wax it and leave it be.
