i also need to get the steering or something looked at...i took it for a drive down the road and it scares the crap out of me..dont feel like i have much control..kinda all over the place

CJ-5's are like that. Could be spring bushings, loose steering box, or other worn steering components. Not having a sway bar doesn't help.

For me the first place to look/check is the steering shaft. The u-joints on mine were worn out. I also invested in a 'Big Daddy' steering box mount, and that pretty much tightened everything up, due to the PO already had installed new poly bushings on all front end components.
