C'mon you apes, do you wanna READ forever?!

Just re read the first 2 books, in anticipation for my rough draft. Ahemmm @Atla

I am ashamed to say, I horribly missed the mark in getting Book 5 finished by tonight.

:(

I'm still trying to figure out where December went...
Just finished #4 on kindle. Ready to find out what happens next!

Well, you have another reader. Heath is almost 12, and he took an interest in reading after we met WWII B17 radio operator who wrote a book.

Every night he lays in bed and reads. We have some great conversations about what he read. So I started gave him West of Prehistoric. He loves it.

I keep having to tell him how to pronounce words, but he is loving it.

So...

I posted a video update on my Author page on FB last night. But I'll sum it up here.

My daughter's health has taken a turn for the worse and between her and work, and a serious lack of sleep, I haven't had any energy left to write. I think I did 250 words total in Jan.

It's hard to explain how sucky PANS/PANDAS is. But right now my daughters anxiety is so bad that she can't be left alone in a room. She even requires one of us to go into the bathroom with her. For school, if/when she is able to go, I bring my work laptop and sit in the classroom with her. As for sleep, insert maniacal laughter here... she often wakes up for several hours each night. Which then requires us to be awake with her as she can't be awake by herself.

Anyways, insert lots of excuses here...

The book will be finished. It doesn't need much. But what little it lacks, I simply do not have the energy or time left to apply to writing.

Maybe end of Feb? Depends on how my daughters health changes as it ebbs and flows. We've a world renowned specialist we are meeting with this month to discuss next steps in her treatment which will likely be multiple infusions over the next few months.

Sorry for the lame update.

Edit - @UncleWillie that is awesome! Let me know what he thinks!

Nothing lame about family being first.

Family is more important than a book. I look forward to reading it, but look more forward to your daughter feeling better and her health improving.

Thanks guys, we meet with an expert in PANS next month to establish a protocol to get her back to herself. End of tunnel may be near!

And here's this, I made a meme.

Hope you get some answers/solutions for your daughter soon buddy. I know that's got to be stressful for y'all on many levels.

Side note....I'm pretty sure @ramjo has been growing his hair out in hopes that you'll venture into the romance novel genre and ask him to be on the cover of a book.

I got a little writing in this past weekend....

Also grew a magnificent western style mustache.

It was fun while it lasted. Wife and daughter wouldn't let me keep it. Which is bullshit by the way. Cause look at it! It's sexy as hell!

Anywho. Things are about the same here. But I'm managing to find small bits of time to get some work in. It's keeping me sane. :)

I just submitted my first short story for a 'Weird West' anthology being run by Raconteur Press.

Title is 'Blood in the Valley'.

Summed up: A man seeks death and a confrontation with God. Finds Sasquatches instead.

It's a fun, violent little adventure that I wrote in four days. (Started Monday and submission deadline was TODAY!)

I should know by the end of the month if it was selected for print or not. If it's not, I'll post it on my blog for reading.

And I owe @JSJJ388 a beverage of his choice for beta reading it on short notice this morning.

Well, my short story didn't make the cut.

But I learned a few things, such as 'take more time' and 'use more words'. I wrote it in like 4 days and final drafted it hours before it was due. And I used 5,2xx words of the 8,000 words allowed. My story needed that time to review and word count to flesh out better.

And I've spent the last three weeks or so kicking myself for how I could have made it better.

Anywho. I'll put it up on my blog tonight or tomorrow. (Easter Bunny's a coming tonight!)

As for Book 5. It's going great actually. Daughter is doing a bit better, and I've been able to get some writing in at night. I just hit 70k words, and I still have the final battle to do. Which is pretty flippin' cool. I realized I've done the 'big battle' thing for a bunch of my books. Which is okay, but they are always from the point of the guy in the fort/camp/town/whatever.

This time it's going to be from the lead character's point of view in a cavalry charge of Vikings riding triceratops. Blood, guts, and horns.

Cool!
