Commuter cars. What would/do you own?

Thought about this one time and the cost to buy, pay taxes on, and insure a second car for only commuting really wouldn't offset the gas savings, and I get 13mpg in my power wagon.

It depends on the distance of the daily commute and it isn't just gas savings. Total cost per mile to drive a large truck is more than a small car.

I daily a '91 Honda Accord CB7. Cheap parts, cheap maintenance, ultra reliability and it has double wishbone front and rear independent suspension, it's not the fastest but I take corners at speeds most vehicles would roll at. My insurance premium increased by $25 with full coverage including collision. Its widely available and has alot of information on extensive modding and swaps if you want to go that route.

Hybrid Camry gets 51ish hwy. Turn on adaptive cruise and lane departure and take a nap.

I bought a ‘08 Civic new when I first started my job. Granted I don’t drive that far to work, (~15 miles each way) but I drive it daily. I’ve only ever put a fuel pump in it, put brakes on it, and changed the oil 1 or 2 times a year. I should probably at least put some spark plugs in it now that I think of it. Gets ~27 MPG, probably would do better with a tune up. It’s probably got 175-180K now, I honestly can’t remember. Clear is gone, paint is faded, headliner is falling, but I don’t care. I’ll drive it until the wheels fall off.
A friend of mines dad retired from eastman,He lived just outside of town in the county and drove to Kport everyday. He was a honda accord man. four door 5 speed w 4cyl.He swore by em.

Ok .... ya gotta stay with me on this one, but Kia Soul. Junk piston rings, POS cat converters that boil the engine alive and all.
I'm old and and decrepit and don't commute anymore ( disability ) , but the get 35-40 mpg, comfy, easy in and easy out and when the cat boils the engine to the point the ring let your oil out the the rod bearing start the shake rattle and roll ...... a bit of research and prep and a willingness to mention your willingness to let a lawyer handle it will get 8 grand or so engine replaced.

Mine might blow up at 5:15 tomorrow morning as I’m driving to work, but I’d buy another in a heartbeat. It’s given me 16.5 years completely trouble free, at this point it doesn’t owe me a thing but it deserves more than it gets from me.

Did you end up selling the F-150?
No, she's still chilling in the back 40, doing occasional truck stuff & William drives it here & there (just got his permit).

In true me fashion, William is getting an F-150 ('01 extended cab with 70,000 miles) because he is outgrowing his Pathfinder...& I still do not have a trail toy.
