Concealed carry in customers house?

If I were to carry, I would carry a Ruger LCP. Go look at the Taurus/Keltec/etc and other than maybe the S&W Bodyguard, the Ruger is the nicest of the low buck subcompact 380's. Don't bother with anything larger than a 380 if you want deep concealment. If you're not worried about it printing or the holster clips being visible, then you're not really that concerned about concealment. With a 380 you can easily carry in a pocket holster all year, and on an ankle holster when you're wearing long pants (probably all year if you're wearing khaki's for work). Keep in mind that if you're pants aren't long enough, they will pull up and show the end of your weapon when you squat or are sitting.

And people will argue caliber all day, but level of concealment really dictates caliber. I can defend myself better with a 380 on my person than a 357 or 45 in the truck.

Any gun that you carry is better than no gun at all !!!!! Conceled is out of sight and out of mind to others I say carry if you can . I carry 2 at all times 5 shot .22 and a lcr .38+p ..im a really big fan of wheel guns vs autos ..that being said..I still like having a backup plan for my backup plan !

I would carry. When i did residential HVAC service we were on a 24/7 call rotation. If customer called you were supposed to go didnt matter where or time. You never knew what kind of place you might end up at 2-3am on a friday night and you are alone. When i first started as a helper had a group of guys try to intimidate us. I had a very uneasy feeling the whole time. Lucky that day there was 2 of us so one was on watch while the other was working on the outdoor unit. But once you become a tech you work by yourself most of the time. But since that day i always carry i just keep it concealed and my mouth shut about it. Figured if i had to use it my job would be the least of my concerns. At least ill still be alive hopefully.

I say absolutely go for it. If your not going to get in trouble with your boss, why not? you never know what is going to happen from day to day. People are crazy.

It is a good point. But I would hope that if I found myself in a situation to draw my weapon it would be understood by a judge. I'm willing to take my chances. I been looking at the holsters mentioned above and will be getting one for sure.

Oh, I didn't say being found in a situation where you had to draw your gun. Let's be clear, if that situation came about, to hell with any job or it's rules. Pull it!

I'm saying if you happen to lean over and shirt opened up and the client saw it. The mere sight of a pistol sends many people into a panic.

Personally, I would carry in your line of work.

If I'm upright, I'm packing. That's all there is to it. I also agree I wouldn't depend on a .380 to stop someone. I carry an XD45 in a Crossbreed supertuck holster.

Same law applies in NC.
Fine line, but the law.

Can you provide a quote?

As far as I know, the private property issue would be the same if a house or business.
If it's not posted it's legal.

Besides, I'd rather hire a lawyer than a funeral director.
If it's concealed, no one will ever know you have it.

My preferred holster is a single clip IWB. The previous pic just screams "I'm armed"!
I really like my Desantis IWB tuckable with a j-hook. Less than 1/2" of anything visible on the belt.

Yeah I'm not worried about caliber right now. I hope I never need it period. But I'm not super familiar with pistols and I like the 380. It will be a good first gun, I'm positive I will get others in time and carry according to how I'm dressed and where I'm going. I do want a bigger gun, just starting with a 380.

I'm in the same business, asbestos, mold, lead based paint, ect. We do lots of HUD inspections see all kinds of $h!t !! Been doing this 8 years. My advice to you is carry it on your person, concealed. Nobody has to know but you! 380 is fine, same size bullet as 9mm.

Carry every day. Remember, a gun in your truck is worthless when you are somewhere else. A gun is also not a death ray nor will it raise a shield around you. Situational awareness is your best tool. A gun under your shirt is worthless when a knife is slid between your ribs from behind.

Situational awareness is your best tool

Bottom line right there. It doesn't matter if you're carrying a full auto 12ga if you don't see things coming.

I personally do not own a gun, and wouldn't have ever really shot until big goofy invited me over to shoot some...

I've never been too interested in all of that. The fact that one is for or against carrying a personal firearm is irrelevant, it's your right to carry.

Frankly, I don't give a shit if you bring a bazooka, are gay, or worship Zenu, you're welcome on my property. If you're a good person, abide by the law, and respect your rights, you're welcome.

therefore only if posted. Class 2 misdemeanor for the first offense. A second or subsequent offense is punishable as a Class I felony.

The issue of getting fired vs. buried is clear enough. The accidental discovery by another individual and their reaction is less clear in terms of whether they feel threatened (or claim to have felt so later over your dead body).

Personal decision.

I'd likely be pretty pissed if you carried in my house but if it was a sketchy neighborhood at say a cheap ass building I owned I'm pretty sure I'd be very happy that you carried as well. Normalish friends and relatives exempt. Having a gun locked in the truck on my property though wouldn't bother me one bit even if you told me.

I don't live in a shitty neighborhood though so your milage may vary :)

Just my thoughts here...Home invasions happen when and where you least expect it. And most criminals don't think 'hmm, I'm gonna go rob this shitty house in this shitty neighborhood".

Update: I'm currently in the middle of a bad landlord vs tenant situation.

The property owner just cussed me up and down for no reason at all on the phone and explained that he was on the way over. This guy is a real hot head and did not understand what I was trying to tell him. Real tense situation with lots of aggression and now I'm just sitting in my truck waiting on this guy to show up and probably cuss me out in person now.
I pick up my .380 this evening but I sure wish I had it now just incase this guy acts the way he talks.

^Just remember, a good cussing and ensuing argument isn't justification for the use of lethal force. (more of a reminder than an argument)

That's not at all what I meant. I can't type out the whole situation, but upon saying good morning, how are you? Good, well Mr. person this and this seems to be an issue and will effect the pricing... The guy totally blows his top screaming and cussing at me on the phone because I had to speak to his tenant. It is impossible not be in a home and not speak with the occupant. I cannot just barge in to rooms, I always ask the person to show me around. This guy said that was BS he owns the home and I should not have said a single word to the tenant.
Really? the lady had stuff in every room, it's common courtesy and professionalism to have her walk with me and I explain the process about to take place. I did not discuss any pricing or anything like that with her. Only explained what I would be doing and what I would need her to do. Guy looses his mind over it.
He also gave the girls at the call center a hard time.
I just meant this guy seems like a loose cannon and I'd feel much better with my gun just in case. Maybe he had a bad morning and is on the brink of loosing his cool, you just never know.

Sounds like you have a good case to turn down the job. I have learned not all business is smart business.

The prop owner is wrong.
The renter is entitled to all the privacy of a homeowner.

It turned out ok. I was able to do my job, and made him understand the process better. Another happy customer. Although he was a huge dick and didn't even bother to apologize for speaking to me the way he did. I was still nice to him and wished him a Merry Christmas. Gotta just kill people like that with kindness.
