goin to rausch would be a stretch for me.

That's why it's called Ultimate Adventure -- not "Ultimate trip to all the ohv parks within 100 miles of Knoxville."

Yeah but Grey rock is about 4 hours from Knoxville.I was mainly listing the ones that were the closest together to get the most wheelin time in on the trip.

Or

Harlan
windrock
royal blue
golden mnt
grey rock.

There is also a place near royal blue, called the mines or something, but I think its invite only.Jellico is also only about an hour from RB.Id probably be down for where ever but goin to rausch would be a stretch for me.
It's called the Sand Mines and you have to have a ride pass to enter Royal Blue and access it.

After having dding my jeep for years, driving to wheeling spots, and now trailering. It is far less stressful and more fun to go out and wheel and if somethjng breaks, to put it on the trailer and fix it that night, or take it home. Either way, I'm making it back in time to go to work on Monday, without the stress of locating parts and fixing it just to make it back home...

^^^This

We all probably started out driving our wheeling rigs to the trails, and having to patch stuff together and limp them home. I just don't see the point in doing that when I have a nice reliable truck and trailer. That is the only part about the UA that I just don't understand. It doesn't make sense to me, and doesn't seem like fun. It is the biggest reason I would never apply to go.

Ultimate Adventure is the holy grail of wheeling. Its what going wheeling once was, should always be and should never have strayed away from. You'll never see a stronger commradery between motor enthusiast in any sport. If everyone trailers, where is the fun in that? When a hardcore motorcyclist builds a brand new bike, do they trailer to sturgis, or do they ride the sumbitch?

I'm not doing this so-called "Ultimate Adventure" unless I can bring my RV and a co-driver to help with the road days.

:flipoff2:

This is why everyone drives their rigs to KOH, Easter jeep safari in MOAB right? Or is it bc all of the soft core guys use trailers.

I don't think wicked built choppers are a fair comparison. Those bikes are built to be ridden on the road and look good.

That would be the same as saying a jk on 35's is the best offroad rig because it is the most comfortable to drive to the trails.

I used to think people that trailered their rigs to destination spots were trailer queens too.

Until I got a trailer and realized it was much better to have an offroad rig that was better suited for trails, and a nice comfy tow rig to get there and back.

The ultimate adventure is just a chance to get readers to follow along to sponsor built rigs for the purpose of advertising specific products or companies. And they let a few individuals tag along to make it look realistic.

Why else would BFg invest the cost to build a specific tire just for ultimate adventure and give them to competitors to run?

It's so the readers see everyone running those tires and go out and buy them.

Any jeep or truck built into a trail rig was once a street legal and driven rig. It is up to the owner/builder to keep it as such and requires maintenance like anything else. Anything done to a rig that makes it not streetworthy is the doing of the owner.

Something like the jk experience here in the southeast would be awesome, set rig standards and cost, set a start date and end date, I would be all in

I think you should do it simply to bring awareness to your alternative lifestyle.
If you don't get selected, call the ACLU.

On a side note, your axles are geared properly, I know that for a fact. Rock out with yer...

I'm heading to Colorado soon to wheel the most extreme trails the state has to offer. A different trail/place every day for 7 consecutive days, from one side of the state to the other. TOWING my junk out there with a 13yr old tow rig with well over 200k on her:D Really looking forward to the drive, the wheeling, hanging out, scenery and camping out in the middle of no where under a western sky. I wouldn't trade this trip for a dd/wheeler trip no matter how bulletproof the rig was.

TTC vehicle of choice- take a caged 1ton sprung over YJ, flat skid the entire bottom, cut the fenders off of it, the biggest cut boggers you can turn, throw in a dorkel'd TBI 350/400, huge radiator/cooler and beat the $hit out of it. plan on shipping the axles home and sell the rest for scrap.

Windrock, where you can get very lost.

Effin understatement of the year!! First trip there was last fall, had to find our way back to camp in the dark for spare parts to get the rest of the group off the trails. 2 hour trip one way for a broken pitman arm!!! There's now two or three spares in the group for when this never happens again! 16 hrs wheelin non-stop, more to the story but I'm trying to stay on topic.

I'm from the magazine generation and loved the TTC and UA events. Still have it in my bucket list to find one of the abandoned towns/goldmine trips and spend a week "off the grid".

The East Coast Ultimate Offroad Adventure is a doable challenge for us east coast guys. I am willing to say may of the board vendors would love this type of media exposure and getting something like this in print shouldn't be that difficult. Make it a week long schedule with an opening and closing ceremony with trips between three/four parks with about as many vehicle classes.
