I'm impressed w/ CNN for this followup. Its not what you'd normally expect from them.

Their has been a literal shit storm of people calling for them to be expelled, doxxing the parents and even killing the kids. Its a sad state of affairs when grown people, even some in authoritative positions, don't take the time to get the whole story before condemning kids.

True but not surprised. I think they’ve been proven false so much it’s finally beginning to have an effect on the station.

I think the kids handled it well. I know most wouldn’t. Especially with the guy getting into ones personal space chanting and beating a drum. The kid ripping his shirt off? Meh, he’s in high school, could’ve done much worse.

If I was a parent of one of those kids and present when the “Hebrew” guys started spouting off those comments you can bet there would’ve been a real shit show.

The problem has become the news media is less interested in reporting "what happened" than it is "creating what happened to match the narrative they want". News is about assumption now. Based on a picture, or short clip, they assumed the kids were taunting the indian chief because the kid's smile appeared smug and the chief's look was so stern. The fact that some of the kids are wearing MAGA hats opens up the world of assumption that they are somehow racist bigots. It's just a hat, people. It's just a saying. Stop trying to interject what you think it means and assuming that everyone who wears a MAGA hat is there to burn crosses and lynch people.

Does anyone else thinks the kid looks like Joey Lagano

I thought he looked more like John Krasinski

Read an interesting article yesterday about how literally hundreds of anti-Trump segments and/or news articles started off with the words "if true..." and also included the phrase "unverified report".
Basically the (fake) news media is spouting lies just to get a message out. Then rebutting it at 2:30 AM in a news blip when nobody is watching. But in the meantime the article has spread like wildfire and been seen as accurate by many folks.

And people wonder why Trump has such a loyal fan base when much of his platform revolves around fake news, corrupt media reporting and the like.

I think their chaperones were dumb to let them get in that situation to start with.

That was the spot where the bus was supposed to pick them up for the ride back home.

Read Robby Soave at Reason. Robby was the first one to actually watch all the videos and report on what they showed. He also includes the full statement from the student in the edited video:
The Media Wildly Mischaracterized That Video of Covington Catholic Students Confronting a Native American Veteran

It doesn't look like they are necessarily in the wrong... But, I think their chaperones were dumb to let them get in that situation to start with.

I don't know that they could have done anything any differently. Basically, the kids were there standing around waiting for their bus when they were accosted by the Hebrew Israelites. They sat there and took all sorts of verbal abuse with a smile on their face. They sang their school fight song to drown out the noise Then, when the indian chief came over, banging his drum, they continued with the non-escalation by just standing there smiling.

No news article should EVER read "If true" or "unverified report". That's the whole point of news coverage is to verify stories before you report them. If I want unverified reports, I'd get them from NC4x4. :)

News has become the tabloids I used to try and read because they "felt dirty" waiting in line for grandma to get groceries.
Even at 5 I knew it was garbage.
Folks just don't know how to deal with trash anymore.

Worse, folks want trash.

Get the clicks first and follow up with the truth later. Gotta pay the bills!

Yeah something like 200 times that day.

That Indian is a well-known and documented asshole who claims everyone is harassing him and being racist.

This is from the forever entertaining Larry Correia:

If you got suckered by some fake news story designed to generate outrage this week, once you found out you've been manipulated there's a few ways to deal with it.

A. Admit you screwed up and fell for a con. And then if you said angry, blustery, ignorant, threatening crap, retract and apologize.

B. Double down. Claim it's "fake but accurate". Embrace the lie. Advocate for violence against undeserving people because the propaganda fits your predetermined worldview.

C. Ignore the truth. Pretend it never happened. Then accept no responsibility for what you said the day before. It is okay, because you Care So Hard.

I've seen all of these today. .

A is what mature normal people do, so they can continue to function in a society with people who hold differing viewpoints. They really don't want to end up shooting their neighbors.

B is what cancerous assholes do, because they want to destroy the fundamental trust and unity that enables us to have a functioning society. They want the world to burn.

C. These people are the Useful Idiots. They're gullible and exercise no critical thinking skills. As soon as the next outrage clickbait comes across their feed, they'll spread it unthinkingly while smugly virtue signalling.

For the vast majority of people who aren't idiots, with A you should thank them for being adults. We've all screwed up and been there. B, you should take note of, because if they ever get their wish you're probably gonna have to shoot that psycho before they burn your house down. C? They're just pathetic, and not even self-aware enough to feel shame.

Note, I'm not mentioning what yesterday's particular outrage controversy was about. Why? Because I'm going to save this post, and I bet I will probably be able re use it a couple times a month, and it will remain perfectly accurate regardless of what it was the news lied to us about this time. Because some people suck.

Rules for life #2378

Anything the news networks say, don’t believe a word. Assume the facts to be opposite and you will be closer to the reality.

This is the reason I want let my 18 year old wear his Trump supporting clothing out with his friends.
Me and him....game on.

Or, if you are Rudy Giuliani, do all 3!

I read from a pretty good source that the Indian claimed to serve in Vietnam with the marines. Given his age and the time that the marines pulled out of there his claim is highly unlikely.

Wouldn't it be poetic justice if he were nailed by stolen valor
