Creek crossing and culverts

Following up my kudzu control thread....the property I am looking at has a small creek crossing that is necessary to get back to where I would want to build a house. Its a relatively small creek...maybe 6 feet across at the stream bed and a couple inches deep. Been in contact with Army Corp of Engineers and they said its not a trout watershed and there were no specific features that would delay or complicate doing this...that I just need to give them exact location and length of culvert and they would issue a Nationwide Permit #14, and just install the culvert in accordance with their terms and conditions. Waiting on the response as to what those terms and conditions are...

What am I looking at trying to make sure a culvert is installed up to their standards? Also...I still have to talk with NC DEQ and see what they require....because government.

@Subzilla I saw some threads and you seem to be in the know regarding this stuff.

Edit: ACE directed me towards their permit #14 info and highlighted the important stuff for culverts. Doesn't look too terribly bad.

Only thing I can add, is, Go Bigger, than what is required! In size anyway. These days of 100 year storms hitting every few months, aren't going away. Bet you've seen on TV, many folks & communities that have lost a culvert or bridge, over the past year. Or ask Troy Baker!

I might would even opt for just making a bridge across it, if that's feasible.

I am surprised I haven't lost a culvert at my house in the past couple years. Twice it has been over the road (road into the woods so not critical). Pipe has been there for 20+ years, probably longer. I have seen it come over it twice in that time, once this year, once last year.

@CasterTroy is the expert of bad luck with pipes though.
