Creek Crossing solution

I thought it was crush-n-run or crush and run...

It's the last "run" from the crusher that has all sizes, basically the last run after all the larger stones have already been sorted.

Also, I have a corrugated plastic pipe under my other driveway. It's had a bunch of loaded tandem axle dump trailers, a bulldozer, 2 excavators, and a handful of dump trucks run across it right after it was put down. I'm pretty sure that will be fine.

Tomayto/tomahto. I've heard it called a few things.

"Crush and run is extremely valuable in numerous construction and landscaping applications. Frequently referred to as crusher run, quarry process (QP) or dense grade aggregate (DGA), crush and run is comprised of pulverized stone and stone dust."

ABC

Shawn is correct, it's been called ABC now for probably 20 years. No, I don't know what it stands for! Sometimes, material name depends on the Quarry. Today I hauled "3/4 ROC". A New name to me! It's "Non Spec" ABC. It's always been "Process Pit", to me & Most Quarry's. But the PP shows a lot of dirt in it, while This Non Spec seems to just be 3/4 rock & fines.
You can also get the same grades in re-cycled concrete. It's all up to it's Use, & what someone is willing [or not] to pay for. If it's to be Inspected, That's a different Story. As for the pipe, metal or plastic corrugated, If installed Correctly, it's as strong as concrete pipe. Just like an egg, or round object, if there is equal pressure on all sides, it's Very hard to crush! I'm sure I have driven over such pipes, & bridges, where I Didn't know what was under me. Troy, your's looks sufficient, but If I knew about it, I'd advise the Owner that he is Responsible, & maybe have it in writing. I see no problem in the rebar & concrete, other than "is it necessary"? One other question, would be, How Long will the present pipe Last? You do Mega rebar/concrete structure on top & sides, & say the pipe rots out in 10 years. I don't know. To put That much into it, you might want to start with a Concrete pipe. Wider, larger, & flared ends. Just some thoughts!

I'd add a little stone to make it level but nothing more.

MAYBE a road plate if you really think it's needed but I doubt it. We run heavy trucks over much less regularly and have been just fine.

I don't understand what the issue is, or why this thread even exists.

I did learn something about the names for crushed stone though.

From my old dump truck days, ABC is what they build road bases with and is the spec material they are supposed to use. ROC or Crusher Run is more a waste material and will puncture tires easily As far as that pipe a dump truck will be fine, a concrete truck would too but the driver may not want to cross it because its a little more top heavy. Like Rodney said, as long as its compacted properly, its strong.
But by all means, be sure to have camera ready when its creek crossing time!

Yes, I certainly wouldn't leave this as a LONG term solution. The goal is to replace this metal pipe with concrete one that's at LEAST twice the width to give me at LEAST a 12ft wide crossing. (wife wants a nice little "bridge" look with rock sidewalls eventually)

My main concern was: Would this do for now until I "got a little further along" with the site. This crossing occurs right at the entry to the property so there's SO much to do once I cross it. I just wanted feedback to know if what's there already would be OK for the next 18-36 months till I'm ready to replace it (working my way from the back of the property out as far as site)

I share meat!!

Wasn't that your Indian nickname in college? :huggy:

Actually the 150 acres due south is all "hunting land" that on older gentleman owns and leases to some local guys to JUST hunt

How many acres is your piece?

I have had concrete trucks in sketchy places before. If you call a day or three prior, they are good t o send someone out and look at it. Never had them say they couldn't. But they have asked for more rock a couple of times.
