Well, I'd like to say after jumping from one thing to another my brother and I have set on what projects were doing. Here's some pics of mine and his, mines the Chevy his is the Ford, we're basically making the exact same truck just with different brand names.

Ford:
60/14 bolt 4.10's
400/c6/205
44x18.5 Gumbo's
3 link/wristed raduis arm type susp front shackle flip rear

Chevy:
60/70 welded 4.88's crossover
Paned350/350/208
42x15 Tsl's on 32 bolt beadlocks
4" leafs front shackle flip s10 blazer leafs rear

My chevy is about to go under the knife for a caddy 500 swap, gotta swap the holley projection on the ford, still need to finish up the steering on both rigs and mount the hydro assist on both rigs, make driveshafts, and armour of course

Well I will be the first to say that I think you got it right this time. That Chevy sounds like it is setup pretty good and your plans sound right on track. Can't say I agree with the Caddy engine and pane though. I like the low, big tire stance of both rigs. Have you given any consideration into narrowing the front end?

DK

Well I'm not keeping the Pane when I swap to the 500, gonna get a holley truck avenger 770 cfm carb that I know will push the motor instead of trying to get the pane to work.

As far as the front ends yea were gonna do both, for now were just gonna trim at an angle from the frame to the corner of the hoods off the the radiater supports, then later when we get around to exoing both we'll trim the radiator support to the frame and the hood to match most likely.

Looking good Ricky, finish these two! Why are you getting rid of the 350? Pane not working? Or are you just wanting to do wheelies :). I know it needed some tweaking, but John had it running pretty well the few times I helped him with it. Good luck.

looks great. i see the spare 44 in your pic. i started laughing when i seen it. for those that dont know why i think its funny is because he just got it from me a couple of days ago. so when is the big 500 going in ?

The plan is to finish these two, I don't see myself changing projects yet, lol. Nothin wrong with the pane at all, I just got that caddy 500 in a trade deal and need the higher cfm that the holley puts out to power the caddy 500, I'm sure I could make the Pane work on it but I'd rather just buy a holley truck avenger 770 cfm and mess with it. But yea cant deny that I may have been thinkin about wheelies in the back of my mind when I got ahold of the 500 :driver:

Yea now its my Bro's spare 44 lol, not sure when the 500 will go in, I gotta sell some stuff first to fund the swap, but I'm hopin to get started w/in the next month or so, just depends on how long it takes me to sell stuff.

PS to all nc4x4er's: I got a paned 350/350/208 combo thats gonna be for sale soon . . . . :wheel:

He did a pretty good job with his, looks pretty clean. When we do ours I think were just not gonna not worry about looking clean and hack both trucks radiator supports from the outside of the frame strait up then just trim the hoods to match, and tube around the lines accordingly. Only issue is the hood hinges on the ford. On my chevy the hinges mount to the cab so I can hack away and not worry bout needing the inner fenders, but on the ford the hood hinges mount to the inner fenders and when we trim those inner fenders will go byby, so I'm gonna have to figure out a way to mount the hood on it directly to the cab. Might just get some cheapo hinges from lowes and do that to the cowl.

Tractor Supply... "Gate Hinges" @ $15/set (in SS for $35-ish)

The Ford hood should be flat enough at the cowl to get away with using no shims (like I did)...

Yea those are exactly what I was thinking, i'd rather have hinges than make it completely removable cause trying to get a hood off by youself is a pain, be easier if you could just lift it up like normal and prop it open.

Looks good ricky! I'll be pulling my bed off soon so maybe I can join the gang. What's the backspacing on those 32 bolt beadlocks? Want to trade for my boggers?? lol
What's keeping your 350 from running right now? I would say wheel it like it is, weld the front diff, wheel it some more, then deicide if you still want to swap drivetrains. You might want to beef up the D60 too before dropping in something like a 500. Do you really want a carb?
Are you bringing either of these trucks to raleigh to work on this semester? If so, let me know!

I'd trade you my tires and wheels if you boggers were on beadlocks!

Nothing wrong with the 350 at all runs like a champ, i'm just a sucker for uneccesarily large amounts of power is all, lol :driver:

Plus I'm plannin on stickin a sm4whatever number I can;t remember behind it so I'll have the super low 6.55 first gear annd not even worry about having to run a doubler.

But yea I have a feeling that when I get the 500 swapped in and as soon as I shift into that first gear my axles are both gonna completely and totaly explode into peices, lol. Both are already welded which doesnt help.

I'm tryin to figure out if I can bring up my chevy, I really want to but don't have a place to put it yet is the problem. not really sure if NC State parking Cops would be to Happy about me setting up shop in the parking lot :shaking:

I think it is great that you have all these projects all the time Ricky even if they don't come to fruition. The one thing that seems to be a common factor in your writeups however is that you never seem to mention the purpose of the project. What are you building for? Peterson's magazine? Lexington mud pit? Uwharrie? Johnson Valley? To impress some stripper with 6 kids by 6 other guys living in a singlewide? To get the approval of your internet friends?

Do you build just to build or do you have a purpose for what you build? Again, not a slam. Just wondering the why of what you are doing rather than just staring at some pics.

Good question, and in all honesty I really build all this stuff cause its basically the only thing I do, lol, don't have really any other hobbies.

I mean in all honesty the end goal of my Chevy, as well as the Ford is to win the Top Truck Challenge. Obviously, I probably will never even try and enter, but I guess you could say thats the type of rig I'm trying to build, something insanly overbuilt that can beast the worst challanges.

Obviously my Love for Monster trucks and there "get a tire so big with so much horsepower that if you cant roll over it jump it" theme influences what the end goal is as well. Not joking on this matter, it really is something I would love to be able to acheive one day.

I realize I don't need a Caddy 500 at all, if I got a doubler I would have all I needed to have a fairly decent trail rig. But I can't say no to that much power, which is where my monster truck influence steps in.

In all honesty my greatest wish is to build my own monster truck and enter it into the top truck challenge, honestly I don't think they would let me compete because none of the challanges would pose a threat other than not being able to turn for the obsticale course, and It wouldn't be fair to all the other rigs.

I also realize that the one tons won't handle the caddy 500 and a sm4whatever number it is chevy one ton tranny that has a low 6.55 first gear thus giving me more power than a doubler on top of all the added power of the 500, but once again big motor has me excited.

But yea I guess you could say end goal is a top truck challenge type rig that has a little bit of monster truck blood runnin through it.

shouldnt my truck be up there since it pretty much is half urs anywas... well i mean i drive it break it then you fix it... haha

having a sm465 should keep you happy for a little while... later on, you're going to be thinking, "why didnt i put that doubler in"? im in that boat now, but either way lets see something get done :flipoff2:

That is some funny stuff, I'm glad you're here to keep my laughing.

I liked this reason, cause my sister in law is a stripper with 5 kids and another one due next month, with 4 different dads. And she loves them big trucks. LOL

lol How many appearances on Springer does she have?
