Just wondering if anyone has had good or bad luck with the bolt on d-ring mounts. I'm in the process of making a rear bumper and figured the bolt on would be better than weld on, since it spreads the load over a larger area. If anyone knows of a good place to get them, that would be great. I've searched and found a few, just looking for the best quaility and price.

my suggestion is to use something like these

the weld all the way threw out the bumper not just to the outside of bumper

how thick of material is the bumper ? bolt on will be strong enough just depends if the bumper will deform if its pulled on... I'd think a backing plate would help it also. -my

Thats what i was thinking Mike. Going to use 3 inch channel. Im not sure how thick it is, but i was going to use a backing plate all the way across the bumper inside the channel if that makes sense.

Basically, all i am doing is boxing in the end of the frame rails on my toyota. I would like to do a setup like bruser suggested, but my welding skills are well below par. I was thinking this way i could do it all bolt on.

Northern Tool, and Tractor supply has them. MOunt as close to frame as possible. drill out the holes for bigger bolts will help also. Remember the good ones are rated at 11,000lbs, this is not a shock load! so be aware of that when using them

I used the weld on mounts on my bumper. They are mounted in the bumper, so they are welded on both sides. Heres a pic

I have 2" receiver tubes bolted into the frame with 3/8 Grade 8 hardware and a 1/4" steel backplate. Than I bolted the Warn receiver shackles into them. They work great.
