They said its too tall to trigger whatever lets them know I am at the menu/ordering deal. What triggers them, and any way to cheat the system?

Doesnt matter if it wont trigger....they almost always have a camera system set up so they can see whats there (even more if the back door is located by the drive through too, which it usually is..). So they should be able to see you pull up...

I dont know what triggers it though. (I always thought it was a scale system...)

magnet

aka you dont have enough mass of magnetic material close enough to the ground to induce a signal.

this is purely a guess

Ah! this would make sense!

But like I said, whenever you go through a drive through, look for the camera, because 9 times out of 10 its there.

i dont know about all of them but i worked at a dq in MN and it went by weight because we could run out there and jump on it and it would set it off.

Definatly not a weight problem. FJ80 on 39's, with heavy bumper and winch, I would guestemate ~5.5-6K

Get your lazy ass outta the truck and go in:flipoff2:

Not an option. Its the most clusterfuck parking lot you have ever seen. That, and I AM lazy as all getout.:flipoff2:

AND, they wont let you bring your beer in there!

Just sit there for a long time. They'll get confused why there arent anymore cars coming, that or they'll notice your there when the rest of the line starts honking at you.

I went to the arby's last week and i sat at the menu for like 5 minutes finally pulled up and they said it had been doing it all day, either they are lazy or the only way the speaker works is if there is a car that activates it?

I was told the same thing by a local Taco Bell. After I thought about it, it was true. If I drove my pickup - no prob. In my wrangler, I only got a response if they could see me from the Drive Thru window. The whole time I thought they were fu*%ing with me.

Drive throughs are triggered just like traffic lights (the ones not on timers) by one of two methods.
1) An underground weight sensor, often times you will see a square of concrete around a drive thru order slot this is where the scale is underground. most reliable, and cheapest up front. if they go out outs a bitch to cut up concrete sooo.

2) Photo eye/ photo beam/microwave detector is installed. Your truck is too tall meaning is is shooting right under it. If you can see where the sensor is park woith a tire directly in front of it.

Exactly what I thought, I moved front tire, then rear tire in front of what I thought was the "lazer beam" and even honked the horn like an asshole, no dice, I was pissed, and very hungry:huggy:. for some reason.

well whatever you do don't piss the people at taco bell off until after you get the food or you might end up with something other than sour cream on your taco

if its micro based its counting on metal refraction....my thought was perhaps ri would line up

i think they are triggered by weight. I know you said you have a heavy rig, but you have to think about the psi your tire contact patch is exerting onto the ground, as well as your track width/wheelbase that you have. The bigger the footprint your tires are then the less psi you have, which works out to not trigger shit.

Pisses me off in the jeep w/ the boggers on it, cant get a single stop light to change in Rocky Mount, its rediculous.

Hardees told me the same thing they told you. but really i just had the doors off and they were messing with me. Made me mad.

Don't let them full you. They were on break. I waited in my honda for about 7 minutes one day. I could not back up b/c a car was behind me, and there was a line in front of me.

Actually, neither!

They're triggered by a change in the inductance caused by rolling a large ferrous object over the coils (the sealed cuts you may see in each lane of a traffic light). Lifted vehicles don't produce enough change in the field and there you sit waiting for the taco bandits...

IIRC, there's a magnet kit for motorcycles that don't have enough mass (steel) to trigger them either...

Powerbrake it until you can't see anything because of the smoke. Then order a water.

nOT A BAD IDEA , BUT IUNCiN WENT BACK TO AWD AFTER THE FRONT GEARS, NO MORE POWER BREAKS. i SO THINK BROKEASS HAS CVDEO OF THE DEMOLITION OF THE 37'S IN 2WD. p0ST N0W!
