Damn truck wont trigger Taco Bell drive-through

Way trashed.

This is why I take the girlfriends scion every time for fast food. I just feel like a pita if I have to drive up and throw them off. I wish I knew what it was b/c its irritating sitting for 10 min at traffic lights too

I went to the arby's last week and i sat at the menu for like 5 minutes finally pulled up and they said it had been doing it all day, either they are lazy or the only way the speaker works is if there is a car that activates it?

When I worked at Taco Hell, the speaker only worked if it was activated by the car. So if you didnt set off the trigger, I couldnt talk to you.

I worked 17 loooong years in the fast food industry. I have had a couple different types. The simple old fashion hose with a plug(bolt) in the end that rang a bell. The most modern that I had used was a metal detecting device. It was just a wire inserted in a grove that was cut into the concrete. You could adjust the sensitivity to pick up a bird flying over with a BB up his behind. Often the guys emptying the garbage would roll over it, setting it off.
I'd say to cheat that type, have something metal long enough to reach the ground and open you door and "wand" it across.

Yeah... like that won't get "a little something extra" applied to your order :shaking:

Dude, it's TACO BELL - who would be able to tell anyway???

That is the problem. You might be eating cremeofsomeyoungguy and not know it.

As has been said, that square that's been sawed into the asphalt isn't a weight sensor. Even if it were, tire psi would make no difference... Might try the large magnet on the axle trick and see if it works.

What sucks just as bad, and I know many people here know all about it..is having to cut your truck off every time you decide to go through the drivethrough.

Oh yeah, thats sucks. I cant even go to McDs for my daughters Happy Meal without cutting off. My diesel is worth it i guess.

Drive throughs are triggered just like traffic lights (the ones not on timers) by one of two methods.
1) An underground weight sensor, often times you will see a square of concrete around a drive thru order slot this is where the scale is underground. most reliable, and cheapest up front. if they go out outs a bitch to cut up concrete sooo.

2) Photo eye/ photo beam/microwave detector is installed. Your truck is too tall meaning is is shooting right under it. If you can see where the sensor is park woith a tire directly in front of it.
this is correct. i work for the company that installs them. hang some cans from your front bumper or dangle a chain. the metal detector should pick you up. they need to adjust their sensativity on the timer

Correct

I install this equipment, It is a Magnetic probe that is buried in the ground and will trigger when a metal object moves over it. Your truck sets high enough that the magnet can not sense the metal on the rig. What size Tire are you running I can't see how the axles aren't triggering it when they travel over.

Just sit there for a long time. They'll get confused why there arent anymore cars coming, that or they'll notice your there when the rest of the line starts honking at you.

or just drive straight to the window and act like you are waiting for you food.
