truss

As for now no the gas tank is to close to the rear axel. later down the road gen right gas tank and finishing the trust well be planned.

you could take some 3/16 or 1/4 plate and fill in the gaps between the housing and the truss... or plate down to the pinion, and bolt it in there.

truss

yeah he could. but really for what he is going to using it for its a waste of time right now. like i said he well be coming back later and upgrading some stuff.

I like the truss, Very good looking work. I like the added bling. I and understand what your saying, There is somuch debate about the forces that are put on the truss that we assume to see it tied into the axle in several places. Will the truss be strong enough with just being tied in two places? I am asking for my own rig, That what I was considering doing for a truss. What wall tubing is it?

Plating the truss will change the whole look of the axle and thats not the look I was going for. The owner and I agree that we dont like the look of a 9" with a tube and plated truss. I like one or the other not a combo of the two but thats just my opinion.

I agree with you though. There is a lot of debate on wheather or not a truss is strong enough mounted at only two points in this way, and just because of this debate I will more than likely before this project is over go ahead and tie it in to the top of the housing. I had toyed around with the idea already and couldn't decide.

thanks chris for chiming in. i find it hard to believe that it would break a weld on that trust.

I think JT broke the upper link mount on the rear axle in his tacoma truggy. He was on the hardest obstacle at DPG when he broke and probably with pedal to floor, but it did break... (I am 95% sure it was upper link mount that broke)

Street driving that should probably be fine though, I wouldn't trust it for hard off-road abuse though. At least tie it in to the top of the diff and that would add a ton of strength.

deralls

went by mars fab to take some pics i was alittle early so this is what i got. later chris called and said he had really mayde some progres so i should have some really good pics tomorrow
