Davie County trail ideas

Sounds like a great idea,I'm a good ways away but I'll try to get down to help when I can.To bad you're not closer, there is a huge pile of rocks at the entrance to an industrial park close to the house.Been thinking of stoppin by and inquiring about them.Make an awesome rock garden.

We rode Ryan's land today and had a pretty good time exploring. What he has is pretty hilly with a few ponds. There are many run-off type washes and the ground was fairly wet near the washes probably from this past week's rain. A couple of the hills have some loose soil and rock which should make for some fun once a few more rigs run it. We would definitely need to bring some rock in if anybody knows where to get it. Here are some pics:

Okay,

Joel and I rode about every inch of the farm today, oh, and by the way it was a good day because ol' # 8 won the race - hell yeah!!! - Back on the subject. We have got plenty of mud, but we are lacking on the rock gardens. I am going to make a few phone calls tomorrow to developers and I will let everyone know how that goes. We really need to pull together on the rocks. We have plenty of good size logs that we could make stuff out of, but rocks would be fun too. I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow. Thanks again for all the interest. If we work together I think we may have something fun.

Oh yeah, there were plenty of stumps out there. Trying to avoid the one on the left in the picture I totally missed the one right in the middle. We hit it pretty hard and I got hung up. Ryan went back and got a truck to pull me back off. So it has already seen it's first recovery.

No, it's a ZJ tie rod and they have a bend in them. There (hopefully) will never ever be another stock tie rod under my Jeep.

I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this. I'm down for doing whatever needs to be done to get this land rideable. It's an awesome tract of land.
We need to organize a work weekend and get a good group up to cut some trails.

That's my whole problem, I haven't been at work and that's the only place I read this stuff. But all is well now and I am here to read. Becuase after all, Reading is Fundamental. :D

If you need some rocks/concrete chunks/etc., stop by a C&D landfill (construction and demolition) and scope out the trucks coming in. By law, the only things allowed in the landfill are wood, rocks, concrete, rubble, etc., so no "trash" to pick through. You may even be able to talk to the drivers and find out if they will have any large chunks of concrete/rock/etc. coming in, or at least find out who/where/when the demo job is going on and contact the right people at the construction company. Companies are always looking to save $$$ and if you show up with a truck at the job site to haul off some of their demo rubble for free, I'm sure they'll let you have all you want.

Thanks Rob,

you are welcome to come up - I have called most of the grading and developing companies I know of locally and left messages with all of them. I should know something pretty soon. Thanks for the encouragment.

I have a cousin that runs dumptrucks outta Mocksville... he may have a line on some rock/boulder material or even have some stuff to dump. Will have to hunt his number down and give him a yell...

I have a few big rocks in my back yard but they are just too hard to get to for it to be worth it. My mother would probably like them gone but it would tear up the yard getting them.

Everyone,

We may have just caught a break on our construction debris. I just came up West Market St from K-Vegas to GSO and saw a guy with about 30 huge boulders he was moving out of his yard and a construction site with a bunch of huge concrete slabs. I plan on stopping by when I leave work. I will let everyone know the outcome this evening.
