GM 1500HD's are something else you might look into, NBS (pre cat-eye iirc). They had the 6.0l/4L80E combo, I think they came in 3.73 and 4.10 gearing, all were 4 door crew cabs and a 6.5' bed. I had one for a while, probably towed close to 10k lbs without issue. 13mpg unloaded with 3.73 gears and a factory 26gal tank made trips pretty miserable, but such is life.

I definitely would not entertain a 2wd diesel if anything other than pavement is in your life....my cummins will anchor itself real quick in 2wd, I am sure GM and Ford do the same.....it's like trying to drive a forklift across your lawn! (which I have also unsuccessfully done many times).

More good info. Thanks. I've found a couple shorted 6.0s but sub 200 miles to the tank is pretty pitiful.

Have had 2 diesels (current 12V survivor old man Ram) and lots of gas trucks. Diesel gets in your brain like a prion 😂 you won’t be satisfied with a gas truck after diesels.

If you can find a decent 12V or early 24V Cummins truck, that is my vote…..especially a manual or a well built auto. Some wrenches and a couple of hours will add 100hp and 200tq and make you smile every time you drive it. Just about as bulletproof a motor as ever has been made.

Back in the day I have pulled more than I should with an 03 5.7 2500 4 10 gear . Leave overdrive off and let her sing.

That looks like a winner but how bad is the damage on the drivers door? I mean it was so bad he didn’t even post a pic of it. Not that it really matters, you can pick up a door factory painted that color for a couple few hundred dollhairs.

Yea I sent him a message requesting a Pic of it. But unless it's just trashed, I really don't care. On an even better note, the wife has decided that's the one. So unless it's complete junk or he doesn't respond, im hoping to deal this week.
