Just dragged this baby home where I plan to promptly cut it to pieces. :driver:

Its an '87 have all the major body parts and good title.

Plans are to narrow the tub 8" and glue it back together with Toy axles under it. Ill be using my 2.5L 4cyl mated to w56 trans and toy tcase. Plans are to still run 36s.

Anyway... As soon as I get the d300 parts for my red jeep and put that back together I plan to slide this one in the garage to begin the cutting...

What made you go with the 2.5? I know you had it from a previous build but judging from 4cyl jeeps that I have driven before....The a 22r or re would have more power.

ya I think this one has some history... IMHO the jeep 2.5 is a better engine than the 2.2l toyota... little more torque + I couldn't possibly put a toyota motor in the jeep :) Seriously I think the MPFI, PCM wiring harness and stuff is a little bit simpler than the MAF stuff on the toys.

You may just be right on the MFPI...The last fuel injected toyota I had was a bitch.

I think we're going to ban Yager from the Build Threads section.

Dunno if that'll fix it, but it can't hurt.

maybe we should just move this to the for sale section...

Let me know when your working on this next, and I'll come up and give you a hand.

Jeff, all the 4cyl yjs I have driven that were stock have had a good bit more power than the yotas I have driven...Looks better out of csudmans garage..

Thats because you didn't know how to operate it!!:flipoff2:

The wiring was messed up....and I'll accept a small degree of operator error as well.:flipoff2:

Good to meet you as well man..Hope we can hammer down on the trails soon!

Given the current state of our rigs......Looks like we will be hammering down the beers insted.

Not building the little buggy anymore?

Small buggy, Naaa that was so last week..... 2.2 transaxle was so 2 weeks ago...

I guess my fans will have to wait until its done to see what it turns out to be...

I'll leave the "until it's done" jokes for somebody else.

I'm more interested to know what made you decide to build another Toyota-based truggy. I know you were a little insecure driving the tonner Jeep, but was that the only motivation?

I mean, you could probably save a lot of time by just sliding your Toy drivetrain under a Sammy chassis. It would be a hell of a lot easier than cutting a Wrangler tub down to Samurai size.

:flipoff2:

Did you buy that Samurai tub?

no Do you secretly want a sami. ? ya sami's are great, but one of the big reasons to stick with the jeep tub is the aftermarket support for junk. Go buy soft doors for a zuke, replacement wind shield frame, new mirror brackets, blah blah. etc.. Also the zuke 1.3/1.6 engines are great for what they are, but I found it lacking in the torque dept. By the time you swap in anything larger, your defeating the purpose of a zuke.

Why all the hate?
