doomsday preppers

Really, if you think about it... wheeling trips are excellent practice for extreme situations. Work out who does what best, pooling resources, first aid, etc.

Or maybe that's just *our* wheeling trips.

That girl was by far the biggest idiot. She had just about nothing stock piled, and her plan was basically to have a few hiking type bags ready to go and then she was going to hike out of Houston to her "Bug Out Vehicle" which was some truck parked in a parking lot on the outskirts of town
So many problems with that, I don't even know where to begin. She wound up joining the Army so I suppose she may actually be actively participating in the end of the world.
They also said she works out four hours a day, six days a week. I don't think the word "B.S." has ever come out of my mouth so quickly.
Then she looked like she was going to die 6 miles into a 12 mile hike with a 40 lb pack.

 "Houston Party Girl". The most ridiculous part was that it really wasnt a difficult hike, mostly flat. I think her work out routine consisted of hoisting cosmo's to her mouth for those 4 hours.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying prepping is bad, but these people just get way too far in to it.

1000 12g shells, water, jim beam, dehydrated meat and hell ya good to go for awhile just live off the land after that i mean hell its not like its never been done! Get right with god and youll be alright either way i reckon...

Maybe your neighbor knows all about how to prevent blossom end rot or how to build a still or repair a roof, or... who knows.

That is the guy I want in my tribe

I thought the botanist in LA was pretty cool. I'd like to learn more about the edible plants and fungi around here.

The only thing that kinda worries me is a coordinated upper atmosphere emp strike. IE: Asymmetrical warfare.

It just makes me regret getting rid of my ol YJ that I ripped all the computerized crap, and 300 miles of vacuum lines out of so it just ran.

Other than that, it'll just be camping, for a long long time.

I'm stocking up pornography in magazine form. I'll be doomsday rich!:huggy:

has anybody read the book I refered too??

just curious if it raised any opinions with anyone.

I really think that you should have enough guns/ammo to defend yourself and your family from looters and other neerdowells. You have to be honest just because you have banded together with your family and close friends doesn't mean other people have. They are going to try and come take your stuff. If it really does hit the fan. There will be no law enforcement. Once there is no law enforcement, it will be the wildwest.

get you a shipping container to keep your electronics in they will be protected against emp

i really dont see a problem with being prepared long term even without a total collapse in the government. There are so many jobs being lost there will be more thieves, guns and ammo will be a plus. Tomatoes being $3 lb having a garden will produce enough vegetables for your family. A "bug out bag" for if a hurricane or other natural disaster hits you are prepared to leave the danger zone to find a safer place to go. A alternate energy source like a wind mill or solar panels will save you money on your power bill. Granted some of the people on this show are a little extreme but what kind of show would it be if they normal

my doomsday plan is to hole up at our business with friends and family. at any point in time we have over 300k lbs of product on hand and all of that is dry mix that requires only water and or whatever meat or veggie you want to fry. plus having 70k bushels of corn on hand cant hurt, along with a dam and 2 functioning water turbines. we are in in a reasonably easy to defend area geographically speaking and i have plenty of guns and ammo. what product and corn we cant eat can be used to barter with.

Probably seen Red Dawn a few too many times, LOL.

I have no plan, and am relying on our government to support me in any such crisis, LOL.

Yeah I read it last year.
I have also read Lights Out and Patriots. Some of the stuff is good info and some stuff is a stretch. When Hugo hit in 1989 there was no power for 12 days. You should have basic supplies to whether through something like that.

That book sounds interesting... might check it out on the Kindle.

Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life by Neil Strauss, is a non-fiction book about the author investigating ways of protecting his assets, finding escape and surviving disaster, economic, natural or other. Pretty interesting stuff and he ends up learning what it takes to be self-sufficient and becomes a volunteer search-and-rescue first responder.

I bought this book after your last recommendation. Good read! That guy went from being dependent on everyone for everything to being able to do it all himself.

A lot of good stuff to read is from people who lived through Argentina's collapse.
