DPG race next weekend - who's coming

Well that's not too bad. How do you get started?
Doing an 8.8 swap in the XJ. I'll be running a mini-spool in the 8.8. Does that still qualify as class B?

Look at www.ECORS.com.

All the rules etc are there, including class definitions.
"Getting started" = registering and showing up. Pretty easy.

Axle swaps = no problem for any class as long as it's the same general type of suspension, you could have Rockwells and be A-class (stock) if only 1 is locked and the tires are only 33".

Actually if you have no locker, you could do 35" and be A class IIRC.

EDIT - damn Rob beat me to it

I didn't even need to know this... Ok what is the most comon rig type? Normally how many rigs are in each class. Are there any types of hidden fee's someone would need to know about before getting started?

I bet the most common I've seen are XJs, but there are toyotas, isuzus, etc. in class c, its typically a buggy of some sort.

For the Fall Brawl in October 2009 (our first event) we had 5 each that sowed up for Class C and B and 7 for class A. It looks like for the DPG race on March, we have surpassed that for class A and are about the same for B and C to date.

There are no hidden costs...

$150 to race if you are an ECORS member. Includes gate entries (1 for driver and 1 for a crew member or significant other) and 1 shirt.
$100 to be an ECORS member and gives you the chance to earn points for each race to compete for the Series Points Championship
$185 to race if you just want to race 1 or 2 times and don't care about the ECORS membership and Series Point Championship
$25 co-driver fee (includes T-shirt and spectator gate entry)

thats it for the fees. Nothing more unless you want extra shirts, etc.

Sounds like I need to find something to wheel to death and start racing. I'm going to check out the rules now before I start asking more questions. Thanks

The biggest "hidden fee" is the cost of all the little crap you'll find yourself fixing/replacing before and after

But seriously, if you have a vehicle that is at all mildly wheelable, it is pretty cheap/easy to meet regs to qualify.
Biggest "required" expense that most people/vehicles may not have is a helmet and fire extinguisher. Otherwise there are virtually no modifications from an off-the-showroom vehicle necessary.

Although IMO a $60 safety harness is a must too.

Will be there Friday afternoon-ish as volunteer.
Tent camping all weekend.

I'll definitely show up for the race. Maybe I will make up my mind about racing once I get there. Can you become an ECORS member when registering or do I need to do that prior to?

You can sign up to be a member at the race, however unfortunately from experience we will have to require cash for at track sign ups, bad checks dont help anyone.

Man, If I knew you took checks I would have paid all the fee's at once. He Hee He

Can I pay in food stamps? Bev Perdue's good for it!

In all seriousness, I look forward to the event. Something new for me to get into. :)

I think I'll be there....my dad and I. Not sure what we will be driving...but I want to meet everyone! Havent met anyone off this board really......

Come find the 3.14d truck (black 80s Runner, white lettering) and the nerds driving it

M&M offroad will be there to race.. Can't wait...

How is the cell signal at DPG?
Have Verizon.

Anybody bringin' a TV to keep up w/ the games?

US Cellular seems to work but is roaming a lot and runs the battery down. Don't know about Verizon

I may try to bring a small TV to hook up in the camper to see if I can get any reception

verizon does well in the field and the cut over, down by the creek it is a little sketchy

Awesome! That means I'll have 'net access.
Hoping to have enough for streaming (tethered to laptop) - we want to watch the games.

Other possibility is getting a small TV, w/ video out (we'll have a big monitor) IF there is decent reception...?
