The wife and I are about to move back to Charlotte and are looking to re up our contract w/ verizon wen we get new numbers. Since we'll be in an area that has 3G service we were looking into some smart phones. Verizon has a deal with 2 droid phones for 149 with 2 year contract. Has anyone had or have an opinion on these phones. Wanna know what you all think of them...... Thanks for any input!!:beer:

That's a deal. I've had mine for about a month and a half....and have no complaints. The navigation that comes on it is pretty awsome and the apps are endless.

I have one. It's a little annoying to get used to, but nice once you get it set up. You need to get apps to do stuff that should be standard features.

driod light (flash light)
timeriffic (silent text and email at night)
advanced app killer (makes it run faster) exlude timeriffic though
easy reminder (remind you about text or missed call)

thanks for the input. I think the nav will help my wife out alot. Were going to go look at them tomorrow and hopefully will get to play with a working demo.

I bought the droid and got the Eris for my Mom.

The droid is a cool phone. Very capable with lots of apps and other cool stuff. Heck when I'm at home I barely use my computer because I'll just do everything on my phone.

At work, I just sit here, listening to pandora.

If you do get the droid, get all your accessories online. You can get out for under $30 for case, screen protector and chargers. Buying all that at the verizon store will cost you almost as much as the phone itself!

Get a screen protector!! They are cheap and protect your screen. There is no difference in touch-performance.

Check out the Incredible too. I played with one the other day and if you aren't going to be doing a lot of typing, then its probably a better phone.

Battery life is pretty good, better if you turn off the GPS. There is an option to "locate via wifi" which gives you a general location. I use this most of the time since I don't need GPS on a day-to-day basis. Takes up no extra power yet if I need to get a general idea of distance, traffic, etc, I have it. GPS REALLY sucks up battery power so having it off is ideal.

These phones are definitely GREAT when you are in a pinch. If you need to find something at the last minute, this thing will do it.

The eris is more of a phone instead of a computer with a phone app.

Lemme know if you want anymore info. This is my first smartphone and I love it.

I got a plain-jane phone, not a droid, but called the 800 number to order it from Verizon. Phone itself was about 30% less than the store (Verizon owned, not authorized retail) and he gave 12v charger and case for about half the store price. I'd just call it in.

MyWell I wound up getting the droid and my wife got an lg version of the same. Really good deal with creddits and all we got hers for free and paid arund 120 for mine w mail in rebates. So far ths thing is kik ass! Didn't get the car chbarger and all b/c it uses the same as my old phne. Thanks for the info !!!!

My wife and I got Droids a few months ago. We love them. Some aspects takes a minute or 2 to get used to. I posted instructions on here to use your phone as a modem. It is a free app, the same thing through Verizon costs $30 a month for each phone. Let me know if you need anything. I am not the smartest with them but know some things and hopefully can answer your questions.

Great phones and your wife will love the fact they now have a free vibrator app for the ladies....:D
Check out AppBrain for lots of free APPS.

Well why would she ever need that!!!!:fuck-you:

The app is called PDA Net.

If anyone is looking to buy a droid, go here http://www.cellulardeals.com/

The motorola droid is free from there. It is a legitimate site. You have to be eligible to contract renewal to get it for free tho.

Thinking of going from the ol' faithful crackberry to the new Droid X. Anybody looked into these? I know they are not out for a few more days, but curious if anyone had heard much about them. Or for the people that have the original Droid....what you think? Just looking for opinions....

I dunno about the X but I love my Droid. Its taking some getting used to but def worth it. Did you get that axle in yet?

The Droid X is supposed to be an awesome rival against the iphone 4 and sprint's evo. Better most reviewers say. Of course we don't really know until it gets into the hands of the public. Best Buy's pre-orders have sold out.

I am going to get one.

Ain't hard to beat the iPhone 4. My friend has one and whenever we need to search for something, it always fails. The one girl at the office with one always looses her calls whenever she goes into the center of the building. She gets pissed when I'm on the phone...get in the elevator AND walk through the parking garage without any interruption of service :flipoff2:

That is speaking more for AT&T but I get your point.

im getting my x thursday morning. ive got a appt. at verizon at 8:30 to get it so hopefully it will be cool.

I have the original moto droid and love it. My dad just got the X thursday and honestly, it makes my droid look like an outdated brick. My first impression was how big it is and then I held it and it is a lot thinner and lighter than my droid but still bigger... a lot bigger. It is thinner since mine has the keyboard which I don't really use anyways. I haven't got to mess with it much yet but it is pretty impressive.

Don't know alot about these phones, hung out with a buddy last night, pulled into my apartment complex and there was 5-6 cop cars and a ton of cops just sitting at the entrance, he pulled up a police scanner app, was pretty impressive, and now I want one of these phones really badly.
