So here is my "analysis".
Things we have done so far:
-remove front and rear axle
-remove OEM fuel cell
-remove OEM soft top, interior, and roll bar (those bolts were tons of fun)
-consult with customer to perfect roll cage design for his intended use
-install front Dynatrac 44using supplied lower links and ironman uppers
-adjust front links to push the axle forward 1.5" and relocate frame coil / shock buckets aft 1.5" to allow the provided axel to work with the already installed lift kit.
-upgrade front upper link bolts to 1/2" grade (this was more challenging than just board out the holes. that is exactly what was done but man the little steel insert in the bushings destroyed several drill bits)
-raise T-case to top of tub (about 1.5") and fabricate a new high clearance crossmember.
-fabricate a new low profiles skid plate from 3/16" plate to allow more clearance. skid is angled on both sides. skid plate and crossmember are completely separate
-installed rear Dynatrac 44 using customer supplied lower links and ironman upper links. axle side coil buckets were cut off the OEM axel and re used as was the OEM TJ sway bar
-fabrication of custom roll cage has begun. the design will be using OEM seats, seat belts, soft top, and door trim
things left to do
-relocate front axle side tabs for sway bar, ( this will involve fabricating new ones)
-build frame side track bar mount
-build a "strait" track bar using DOM and heims. We were using a supplied OEM JK track bar.
-change front brake lines to longer stainless lines (on order)
-finish plate work on axle side coil buckets / shock mounts
-finish plate work and tube work on skid plate / crossmember
-cut off rear axel shock mounts and fabricate new ones so shocks do not bind
- plumb rear axel brakes using stainless hard line. tie in to use OEM rear soft line
-paint rear axle, front axle, and crossmember
-install Genright fuel cell
-complete fabrication of cage
-remove, paint, and reinstall roll cage
-reinstall interior, trim and soft top
-two man all point inspection
-test drive
As you can tell we are on the down hill side of this project and we look forward to another successful build and another happy customer!
