Ever seen this?

And G.I.'s wondered why Germans hate American drivers on their roads...

yep.

Not that we are in Germany, but it's a good comparison. Growing up in Europe, I learned to drive by the "Cruise in the right lane pass in the left" method. It's amazing to watch how much easier and SAFER traffic flows. Don't move over for the impatience of other drivers, move over for safer freer flowing roads. All you do is cause congestion, irritate other drivers and increase Road rage.

Yeah, and don't forget not having to worry about some impatient jackass passing you on the right, where outward visibility is the worst...

3 lefts can.
I hate it both ways. They're no reason to be in the left lane if you are not passing. It's a danger and a sign of arrogance and laziness no matter how fast you're going. OTOH, tailgating and flashing someone for being in the left lane (and behind someone else) is a sure sign of arrogance and stupidity.
Jason

I learned to drive in southern Italy. Trust me, Americans lack skills behind the wheel.

The arrogance of the left laners (both types) just pisses me off.

brake check 'em

your word against theirs.

hell, hook up a switch to your brake lights then you'll really catch them off guard :)

-Erik <--- had a civic stuck under the jeep last time i was tailgated and brake checked. got paid nice too

The only problem with that is, if someone else sees it you can be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Because you used you car as a weapon.

I think someone else posted about the deer or cute little kitty cat you were trying to avoid :huggy:
Add a downshift to a brakecheck, and you'll get a tailgater's attention.

It sounds as if the "impeding flow of traffic" is pretty wide open and LEO will enforce any side of it they feel like at the moment.

I agree with various stmts above...one, the left lane IS SMOOTHER. And there are times I will sit in it despite being slower...but those times are ONLY long open stretch with very little traffic and the road is REALLY rough in the right lane. Even then if I have time/see someone coming I usually move right/out of way.

What REALLY ticks me off is someone in left lane MOVING EXACT FREAKIN same speed as the right lane so you cannot get around either one of em... imho...guy on the left in that case needs to either speed up and pass/move over or slow up and do the same.

As far as someone behind me if I am in left lane...IF I am steadily passing those in right lane I usually wait for a good spot and move over to let them go on by me...good spot being a stretch where I dont have to slow down myself

As far as speeding laws, etc...I honestly think most of them are bogus. There are times where 35mph is appropriate and times on the same road that 55 is ok... 55 and 80 on the same stretch of hwy depending on conditions...

...nothing ticks me off worse than a TIMED stoplight in the middle of the freaking night set to heaviest daytime traffic timing...computers have been invented and you CAN program the light to adjust to the time of day!!!!

And thus I tend to make "Left Turns on Red" if there is zero traffic and I am in a mood... in fact I did this last with a Sheriffs Deputy sitting in my back seat, heh...

Before we go apecrap about the above...follow any LEO on their route for a few hours, when they are NOT on call, just driving, watch their speeds, if they bother to fully stop at stop signs, etc...

Sam...stirrer of pot and abuser of traffic law...Hinton

This is so true. My girlfriends dad has been a LEO for like a hundred years or so, and is a bit of a stickler about doing things right, but I swear I haven't seen him stop at a stop sign in 3 years.

Ok,
Twice now, on the way to work, I have been tailgated on I-40 by possibly the same driver, different vehicle. His/her MO is the same.

i admit it...it was me...

no seriously what do you drive? if its somthing older then brakecheck the hell out of them and let them replace your bumper...i wouldnt do that to a normal tailgater but this one sounds "special"

Umm dear/animal thing is a bad idea. If you stop break or cause a wreck to aviod an animal the wreck is your fault... a little FYI from what ive heard

Also I was pulled last year for passing a cop... dumb me... but i passed her on the right and she told me that was illegal

This can depend on the vehicle and the animal.
Hitting a deer with a small car can be dangerous (not to just the deer) at that point it is a matter of safety.
"Officer he jumped right in front of me, all I could see was him coming through my windshield, I hardly had time to react, I am not sure how I missed the deer, and then WHAM I get rearended, I mean I didnt slow down much at all before I got hit"
And a matter of following to close.

Im not saying anything, im just saying from experience this could uhh work if you were driving say something roughly pontiac grand prix size, and something say, ohhh i dont know, like a black BMW is tailgating you.

[PS: If the driver of the BMW has a bag of "potpourri" in their car the driver can also be handcuffed and taken away]
Or so I have heard...
