F250 coolant leak

Went to the store to get cough medicine as I’m hacking my head off. Come back out and notice coolant leaking out. Open the hood. Dripping at this connection to the radiator. Drive it home.
Anybody know if it’s an o-ring in this connection? I haven’t messed with it yet as I feel like shit. Just wondering what I’m looking at as far as repair once I start feeling better. I’m hoping the radiator side is not cracked, but I fear that is what it could be. I’ve never worked on this truck, but it looks like a lot of work to remove the radiator.

Yep, it should just be a snappy-clicky connector with a big o-ring on it. I'd pull it apart and clean/inspect it first. You can take a flathead screwdriver and pry right at the top center where there is a detent in the steel ring and it should slide up about 1/2" or so. No need to take it all the way off.

Yep. Looks like the same style stuff they use on the 5.0 F150s. Probably all of their other motors too.

We allllll know those NEVER leak :D

May just be the o ring, worst case, might need a new upper hose assembly. Or...it may just be because it's cold outside and all of that stuff is plastic. The Y piece on a 5.0 F150 will leak like a bitch when it's sitting and stop once they heat up, but they usually end up needing to be replaced.

Disconnected the hose, but no o-ring to be found. What appears to be a hard gasket is built in. I’ve seen o-ring kits but they don’t say where the o-ring goes. So if this hard built in gasket is leaking, I assume I’m replacing the hose assembly.
Or am I missing something?

plumbers putty? LOL! New fangled gadget to thwart savvy DIY guys.......good grief regular hoses and clamps worked for so long....hey lets fawk this up real good with nine more processes to accomplish the same task we manufactured in one or two.

Ditto! While that style has been used on various "European" cars for decades with few issues (the t-stat housings on most are PLASTIC also), Fords implementation lacks...
BIL showed up here a year ago with his 5.0 F-150 leaking like a sieve, $50 in usual suspect o-rings and it ended up being the cheapest of the bunch/pretty simple to replace at the waterpump IIRC.

You should be able to take the pic and information you have to the parts department at your local dealer, and they can find the part on the microfiche computer.

The water pumps are pretty easy to replace too!
