finally got my hands on a tow rig/dd. i dont know if i want to tell everyone how much i payed for it, but i am sure someone has probably already seen it on craigslist. fortunately i had my dad with me to negotiate the price.

the truck has a lot of stuff on it and looks brand new to have 210K on the frame, which i might add is the only original piece of the truck. everything else is brand new or rebuilt.

the guy i bought it from was building it for his dad who just recently passed. the truck has some stuff that i would never expect to see on a 12 valve cummins, mainly being the power mirrors and 98.5-up power leather seats. the truck has recently had a top dollar paint job, all the interior is brand new from the dash to the rubber floor to the seats. the engine is a brand new reman engine from the factory, it has an ATS tranny with about 10K miles on it, Stage 2 injectors, Holset HX35 Turbo, 5" turbo back exhaust, 7" Pioneer NAV/DVD/CD player with a rear water proof camera and back up lights. both axles have been completely rebuilt, the rear axle is sporting disk brakes along with a 2.5 ton air bag set up with in-cab controls, heavy duty rear drive shaft. everything on the outside has pretty much been replaced including the bumpers, grill, lights, and trim. also has an alarm and a remote start.

let me know what yall think. i would appreciate any suggestions that you guys might have. i cant really think of much that is left to do to this truck. besides maybe a fuel plate which i need to check and make sure isnt already on there but if there is one it wasnt mentioned when i bought it :driver:

dam man. thats nice. sounds like it has alot of work done to it. Im getten one this summer when I get home. Ill have to see it this summer. hows the jeep doing

well now that i got something to drive i can start workin on the jeep to get it fixed

oh i know. the first thing i am doing when i get it is taking in to global performance here in raleigh and letting my buddy change out everything in it. actually me and my dad already sat down and figured out the price difference between gas and diesel and with the mileage the truck get unloaded/towing compared to a gas truck. i put about 20K miles a year on my dd and now that i have a bass boat and fish tournaments i will be doing more driving plus i have more of an incentive to go four wheeling now that i know that i have something to tow my jeep with, and dont have to rely on using my dad's truck

It's not just purchase price and fuel savings (yes you will still spend less on fuel over a gasser). The resale value will always be higher as long as you take care of it.

oh it will be well taken care of. i will probably, like every other vehicle i have, never sell it. i have 4 trucks/jeeps now, never can have too many i guess

OK Ricky jr.
Why exactly do you have the two XJ's anyway?

but the truck looks good.

it may cost more to fill up each time but you are gonna go further on the same amount and also get more functionality out of a diesel. besides which is more fun: a gasser or a diesel with a turbo on it rollin black smoke out of the exhaust pipe?

IDK, not right now, but when I'm done with the Z71 it may be more fun to drive my gasser than your diesel, only time will tell ;)

i'll drag that sh!t backwards and break it then it will take you another 3 months to fix it :flipoff2:

very true. if you classes are like mine right now i dont have time to do anything

My cummins gets over 20mpg with my mods... and I dont baby it around town. I run the Smarty on SW#9(highest level) and turn my Quadzilla on to stack if someone rolls up:driver:
plus its fun to drift a long bed quad cab on 37's. Hope you enjoy the truck, Im sure you will!

I guar-an-damn-tee you if he's got injectors and a turbo, it's got a GSK and a plate already installed. without it, all those other mods are like a track suit on a pig. Oh wait, the HX35 is the stock turbo. he may have had it modded with different impellers, making it a HX35 / HX40 "hybrid".

At any rate it sounds like a very nice truck with really good mods (other than the ATS trans :p ).. And don't listen to the over-valved crowd.. little black boxes are for airplanes.. :huggy:
