yea i know, my sway bar is hanging, i forgot my straps to hold it up! there wasnt enough stuff there to hand it up on

And you had permission to be on this power line trail?

X2

There is no such thing as legally wheeling on power line trails. period. they posses a right of way and maintain these access points to service their equipment. the minute the land owners lease that land they cease to be able to grant permission for you or anybody to ride on that passage.

This is a public forum DEDICATED to the preservation of legal wheeling places and communicating the benefits of wheeling in ONLY LEGAL venues. Do not post pics of trespassing, this defeats our (yours and mine) purpose.

I have removed the offending pictures so there is no confusion.

to tell you the truth, you guys need to go and look up the owners of the actual land around that area and you will see who actually owns the area we were wheeling on. nevermind... i wont win with stupid people anyway

Not true greg.
My grandfather owns over a half mile of power line, he can do whatever he wants under it, except build permanent structures that block access or plant trees/vegetation actually he can plabt it but they are gonna spray it..

We had this discussion about a year and a half ago n this forum I believe.

I do not know if they had permission to be on THIS line, but you can allow someone to ride on your property. The power company does not own the land only have a permanent right to access it.

There is no lease, they just come and basically take over an easment. I mean when you work with them you can get some placement help but you aren't getting any money.

BTW I'll wager any amount of money you care to give me on this ;)

Hate to tell you guys in the wheeling police, the power co does not always own the right of way. My grandfather's land has sewer, water, and power right of ways on it-it's all still his.

fair enuff, I stand corrected. it was my understanding based on a discussion here on this forum that all power line trails were illegal. I have no problem replacing the pics if I am wrong. I am just trying to make sure we dont inadvertandly post ammunition for the green people.

Grow up!

i am the one who was given the right by the owner of the land for my jeep club to go wheeling on the land. he owns a few hundred acres. some of which the power lines are on. i know some of this has already been stated but i will emphasize on it further that the power line company is not gonna tell the owner what he can or can not do with his land if they are renting it from him. this is the same as any of my rental houses. i have a barn at one of them which doubles as a work shop. if i need to go over there and work on my jeep then i have the right to go over there since i own the land and house. yes power line trails and any land in general is illegal to wheel on if you dont have permission.

we were given permission by the owner who is one of my good friend's father.

Dang, I missed all of the good pics!

When I was president of a club in Virginia I was talking to Dominon Power/Virginia Power and they were going to grant me, and 5 others at a time written permission to run the power lines to inspect veggie growth, access points and dead animals. Take pictures and notes, and go about our way.

But generally, the easments are "At Risk" property. (depending on how tall/voltage of the lines is how wide the easments are)

With permission from the land owner you have the right to be on thier property - and they are responsible. With permission of the power company you have the right to be on thier (land owners)property - and nobody is responsible.

Which also means... a police officer can not give you a tresspassing ticket if the land owner isnt present, but can give you one if you touch the power companies property (tower, box etc...)

Then again, this is North Carolina and not Virginia. :)

Haha, I thought those pictures looked familiar, those are the ones I took of your rig. This is a very nice looking tj, it performed well out there.
