I am wanting feed back on the fact of some one carrying a firearm concealed or not on a trail ride. This could be as a club or as a group of friends. I personally think carrying a firearm for defense against wild and dangerous animals is good if you have a break down.

If you are following applicable laws...

Animals are a bigger concern some places more than others... and squatters cooking meth are a bigger concern some places more than others...

What about if you run up on a "squach" in the woods? I think a Zagnut bar would be better than a firearm.

not exactly sure of the question... but I will conifrm it is a fact.
Someone does carry a firearm on all trail rides.
Some carry them everywhere some carry them where they are legal.

I've never felt like I need one in say, URE...Ive ran into some pretty sketchy situations in other places.

I don't know, Jeff. I thought they liked Jack Links beef jerky:flipoff2:.

I dont see any issue as long as you follow all of the laws. Is URE a state or national forest? Might want to check the laws on carrying in those parks.

Messin with squatch.

Must be a hand gun
.22 max caliber
barrell no longer than 5 inches.
Im pretty sure you must open carry unless properly certified (ccw)

I don't know what it is? A national forest with a state park inside it or a state park with a national forest inside it or a hunting preserve in a park in a forest with some private land sprinkled around?

Good luck getting a sdtraight answer on if, what and when you can carry in URE.

Got a reference for that?
I believe it is in this document: handgun laws

And the way i read that is it is fine to carry in federal parks if your state allows carry in state parks. I don't belive NC allows carry in state parks so carry in national parks would be prohibited. I'm not a lawyer or even that smart so do your own research.

that's the law for game lands.

I think as of this December you can carry in State Parks.
That being said, whenever I am camping I am carrying. Legal or not, I am going to protect my family.

True. 12/1/11.

But is URE a state park, national park, national forest, national wildlife area, hunting preserve or some combination of them? That's where it gets murky for me.

hmm..looks as if those rules have changed with the Feb 2010 CCW changes.

maybe you are no longer limited to .22
