First Crash of KOH 2010 Testing @ JV

Looks like Jimmys 4x4 builds one hell of a chassis. The thread on pirate said they almost had it back together, and most of the parts were in stock.

BTW I did not mean that HE didn't learn a lesson, I'm sure he did.

I mean other idiots who are looking for excuses to not wear it themselves.

I don't know how many times I've heard people tell me they don't wear a seatbelt b/c they won't get hurt that bad.

There have been plenty of wrecks where the driver escapes serious injury and/or death because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, it's impossible to know if wearing one will help or hurt your chances of survival if you do happen to wreck.

safety gear always helps. imagine what your head would look like after exiting the cabin on a rollover, I promise it would not be pretty

this is exactly why ECORS is considering more stringent safety gear in all classes for future seasons.

why, because someone wanted to run around in the desert BEFORE the race? Harnesses, helmet and cage. What else is there? You can't predict what people are going to do.

No. Because its a good example of what can happen when the proper gear is not used.

Many people are running ECORS without a cage. A high speed endo without a cage could be disasterous.

Many people are running with factory belts and shoulder strap. A high speed endo without a harness could be disasterous

Most if not all people running ECORS do not have window nets. A high speed endo without nets can be disasterous.

We do require a DOT approved helmet and will stick to this rule. Safety is our #1 priority.

Obviously most ECORS racers aren't going to be going 70+mph in the desert, but much of our terrain and course can handle 50+ mph in some areas. This could be just as disasterous with the mix of trees and rocks.

listen chief, calm down. I agreed with you on 3 of your points if you'll take a deep breath and re-read what I wrote. I still stick to the fact that you cannot control what people do before a race. is it a good example? yes. however, I guarentee no one would ever race without proper required safety gear. you said it yourself, safety is #1 and the people holding the event will dictate that.

I know. Some of our classes don't require cages or 5 point harnesses. So, we will prob. make a move in the future to require these items. Thats what I'm getting at.

Seeing what can happen without harnesses is awful. Having a good quality cage can be the difference of walking away or getting taken away in the meat wagon.
