First world problem...help me poke holes in an idea

This is the option I was going to throw out. If you have a place to put your stuff, you could buy and camper and rent a spot in a local RV park until you found your property and worked out the details.

Also, you can find single wides for under $50k new. Not sure what the lead times are on them, these days. Might be an option if you found a piece of land, vs buying a camper.
Buddy of mine sells trailer houses for a living. He told me a few weeks ago that double-wides are looking at 1yr lead time. I assume singles are similar.

I didn't read everything, but I was thinking along the same lines as you were. I have 100acres, I have a pop up camper...as a bachelor, woulda done it in a second. A wife and 3 girls under 5, laughed at me in such a way that I feared for my life. Then I saw a potential opportunity renting my SIL's house. My MIL/FIL are selling their house to said SIL and were planning on splitting the lot and putting up a tiny house or renting the upstairs until they retire in a couple years. SIL decided she'd make too much bank renting her current house out at market price (more than my current mortgage for 2-3x more house), compared to what we discussed...so no dice. So ultimately decided to refi my house again with a cash out. I'm dropping another 1/8th of a percent since December, taking $50k out, which keeps principal below even what I originally paid for the house 4.5 years ago, and could probably go another $75-100k if I really wanted to push up against the 80% of home value. I'll be restructuring some debt, and really wouldn't be looking at buying anything at all home/property related for a while. Only reason I did it was because it's essentially free money to repay at my leisure at this point, didn't need to, just consolidating a couple different payments and dropping 6% rates to 2.7%, and I'm not hurt unless the market tanks below 4.5 years ago pricing.

I looked into that when we started to build. No way. But....now there are several doing the rv thing, visible from the road, in our area. Probably because James retired from permit department
So you're saying there's a chance?

Had to jump through hoops in Randolph. I got my well and septic permits, and now a building permit. Well is being dug in the next 2 weeks and temp power is going in. We are going to go ahead and do the septic and move my camper there. I finally talked to the right person and found out that since my land in timber management program I get away it a lot more. DO NOT tell them you want to live in the camper, it becomes the construction site headquarters is what we are having to say mine is. I did finally get an address after I got my building permit.

Power company finally agreed to a temp pole once the well is drilled.
Construction headquarters definitely sounds better than hunt camp!

Use that 100k and add 40k to it you can buy my rentals on 13 acres in sanford. Live in one rent the other build house later

I think there is. I can point you out a couple of them near my place that aren't meth shacks and you can go knock on the door and ask them about it if you want.

One went in almost a year ago, and they have been building a house for the past several months. Living in a travel trailer with a big dump tank for sewer, have service come and pump it out.

The other one, they brought in power and water, then a trailer, then this summer built a lean-to shelter over the trailer.

Man...Sanford should sign you up to be on the welcoming and commerce committee

"Sanford! At least we're not Durham"

Well google has been listening to my conversations/reading my posts and showed me an ad for the NC RV show in Raleigh this weekend. If on-call doesn't kick my butt with the heat rolling in I might take a trip to do some walk throughs to figure out what I like if I go that route.
