Fixer-upper in a nice, rural NC town.

Damn, one that a tornado SHOULD"VE hit...

Wha tha fahhhh...

wow, the reason they left was because the man said he had a mistress.......not the filth, inprisonment, but cheating.......

>>>>"On Wednesday, after a week of cleaning that has already yielded two Dumpsters of trash, dozens of roaches still scurried across the floor and walls. A stench still lingered, and a film of bug feces covered the kitchen counters.

Medina said she has to gut the entire trailer and replace the floor, walls and ceiling before she can rent it again. Collins said rebuilding the family may take more work."

I don't get it it.
No trailer is worth that. Just demolish it and be done with it!

Cant rent whats demolished, and single wide trailers are getting harder and harder to find. We have one that once the current tennats move out we have to replace because a tree caused structural damage to*. The tennats suck, and we want them out, but its better to let them stay and pay the rent than kick them out and replace the trailer.

*Disclaimer: the house isnt going to fall down, and in no way are the current tennats in danger, nor would the next ones, but the county says its got to go.

What I meant was, the cost of replacement couldn't be much more than the cost of doing all that work, not to mention the effort + liability for problems later.

e.g., here's one already in NC for only 6 grand

For 6 grand we can do a whooooooole lot to what we got now since we do all the work ourselves. It really doesnt cost that much to fix one, just takes time. And like I said in my first post, it not that they arent out there, but there are less and less every day. Hardly any mobile home dealers have them, so private sellers are our only hope.

Thats cause they are made with popsicle sticks and glue... very cheap materials for a cheap home.:shaking:

many states/counties have laws that make it very difficult to move a mobile home after a set # of years. I have a friend that has a mobile home on his property that hasn't been lived in in 25 years or better. He won't move it because if he does he only has 30 days to replace it or he'll never be able to put another single wide on the property. He's scared that his inlaws may need a place to live when the get too old to take care of themselves so he's saving them a spot. Pretty good idea to get around the zoning laws.
