Found some pics of my Jeep in the early days

I was going thru some old pics tonight, found these that had been scanned from slides. This was back in 86-88-ish...pre-winch and lift...driveway pics, not trail though :(

My dad (age 64) is also a jeeper from way back. His first Jeep was one he paid cash for in '76 when he retired from the USCG. 1977 CJ7 Renegade with a 304. The stories he's told me of what he did and got away with in that jeep is unbelievable. How wide open the trail systems were in Western North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, just blows my mind.

Still are, for some of us. :)

I think a CJ, leaf springs, open/open is about perfect at Uwharrie. Makes it enough of a challenge to still be fun. Sorry, $30k buggy owners, it's true. There are plenty of places they are fun and get a challenging workout.

My dad tells me similar stories of riding dirtbikes all over central and western NC. Ride trails, ride in to town to get food and cigarettes, then ride back out into the country for another 10-20 miles.
