Fuel cells - whats out there

Which one did ya end up with??
Honestly, I talked shit to Logan about them, but I went and checked them out yesterday and I think I'm going to go with the Vulcan Omni 220. I plan to use the shit out of it once I get settled in TN so I'll put it through its paces. If it fails, I'll just return it.

I bought a roll over valve from a local circle track shop
I did this on the cell I use to have.

I'm in the "build my own" group, but it's a resources available sort of thing. We've built about a dozen or so. .188 4xx series Stainless and .250 aluminum is where it's at. ;)

First two is where I was planning on putting the original Tank, it accurately sat in front of where it’s at now

Feel like that's a terrible location... just sayin! Not bc it wouldn't work it's just not the look I'd imagine for a fuel cell out back of a buggy...? seems like it's to far back now so ya kinda screwed either way to close to far away!!! What about building a firewall so to speak and leave it in original location close to seats?? I may have missed pic of original placement!!? So I'm prolly no help if it's a good cell shouldn't matter if close to seats tho!?

Ya gonna mount it at a angle like 2nd pic?? Take a pic buggy from distance with ymthe location ya wanting... may be illusion that makes it look like it's all alone out back of buggy!

the cell would be between the seats. i dont want it there period. it is off the back im going to add tubing and tie the two back bars together. basically use the old suck down winch spot as a starting point and then add tubing where needed. i have no weight over the ass end so the fuel cell out back will help me.

and i cant stand away anymore its inside a garage tent thing.

Ahhh rhyme to reason!! Now I see where ya going with it... yeah that'll definitely help in rear, oh other hand I'm sure you'll end up with dildo weight in the rear eventually from the shenanigans you get put through... lmao

I didn't notice it was in the shack...

I'd wait honestly. You still need to mock up your coilovers and links. Until you do that it'd be hard to package a cell in there IMO. Cart before the horse, or something like that.

Links are going to frame.
Coilovers are going to be on bars that haven’t been put in yet. I kinda need to have a cell and do it all at once

I think after ya get coilovers mounted that location will look way better than it does now! If not you could rework the tube In the rear to make a little flatbed for cell and a space for nice cold refreshing beverages on the trail. I'd make it fit tho unless ya wantin to change that rear up before ya link it! Just throwing ideas out..

Yea..cooler should come before fuel cell. Gotta protect the cold cans big dawg.

Personally, I'd cut everything off from the B pillar back and give it better lines. In doing so, establish a location for an appropriate sized cell, cooler and toolbox.
You're my buddy and all, but the rear of that thing would make Helen Keller flinch.

I’ve went back and forth on doing that a couple times

That's why I said I'd wait. Once you see what you do with the mounts then you can rework the tube and find a better fit. I didn't bring it up but planned to mention it later was the cooler/toolbox options or you could just take Jody's advice and cut the shit off in the rear and start fresh.

I’ve looked at this thing for a while today and I think I have something in my head that will work and look okay. Basically I’ll put a cell where I had the old one sitting but it will be thinner by a few inches so I can move it more forward. I’m going to cut those loop things off and make the back end more square. That should leave me room for a small lockable box behind the fuel cell and a small area behind the seats to hold jackets and loose stuff like snacks (remember BTL) and a small soft sided cooler. The links are getting moved forward onto what’s left of the yj chassis. So then I just have to have a spot to mount the shocks but I think I have plenty of room for them. Basically I’ll end up having a 20” wide 36-48” Long area for a fuel cell and small tool box to sit.
