So I am having a little work done on my house. My carpenter shows up yesterday with a helper that I haven't seen before. I see carpenter driving the truck pulling a large enclosed trailer, helper hops out and comes to the door. I answer the door and helper says "Would you mind moving your truck out of the driveway so we can back the trailer down and unload some wood" I look at him a little perplexed because I am starring at my truck parked on the street right in front of us. He looks back at me realizing my confusion. Helper then says "I mean the black SUV in the driveway" Then I get what he is asking me to do, I forgot I parked my DD in the driveway (that I can't see from my front door).

Moral of the story, why do some people call all non-cars "trucks"???

@BigClay never understood that either but when I was in Baghdad a few years back, I was in charge of the PSD (personal
Security Detachment) team for a 2-star and he was awesome but would call everything "the car". Our fleet consisted of 5 up-armored HMMWV's (for outside the base) and 2 level 5 excursions (for on base) according to him they were all cars lol

Well, to be fair a lot of people in this sport refer to Ultra4 vehicles as "cars", yet they are anything but that.

A lot of people call everything cars, that kinda ticks me off.

They're race cars. What else would you call them?

I hate when people call an SUV a truck. It drives me crazy.

This is hard for me. A lot of the older original "SUVs" basically were truck chassis w/ an enclosed body. Not really a lot of difference besides a bed vs all one enclosure. 4Runners, Blazers, Broncos, Explorers for instance. Hell the 1st gen 4Runner was literally a pickup w/ the back of the cab removed, add a seat to the bed and add a fiberglass cover.
So vehicles that are a real body on frame design I'll still call a "truck".
Most modern SUVs however are all integrated no real frame and more like a big car.
So it's confusing.

Although my Denali may have all the comforts of a Cadillac, it's built on a 1/2 ton frame and has a solid rear axle. It's a truck, dammit. I'm not adopting an acronym when I don't need to. You call your Ford Escape whatever you want. I'll continue to treat my truck like a truck.

I've been under our GMC Envoy.
Pure truck from that angle.

But black people I used to work with all had 3 names for vehicles ......
cars, trucks, and anything resembling 4 wd was a jeep.

I had a girl I worked with that kept referring to her "jeep", walked her outside one day to find out her "jeep" was actually a samurai

I was an offender the other day.

We recently got my oldest daughter an XJ. I have them so well trained to call Jeeps Jeeps, that when I accidentally called her XJ a truck she corrected me.

But yes, a truck has a bed, an SUV is an oversized station wagon. Unless it's 1984 and you're a Goonie named Chunk then they are ORVs.

Guy I work with insists on calling his Lexus GX470 (Fancy Landcruiser) his truck. I like to ask him how the tractor dumps cargo in the bed, just to get him going.

technically it's a 4runner :flipoff2:

And by the chassis-on-full-frame argument it's as much as truck as @catfishblues Denali...

/asshole hat

Just looked them up, it's actually a LX570. He also told me it weighs 8000lbs and has a 350 chevy. He's a special case.

What the hell? First world problems!!

But seriously don't call my sammi or kick a jeep!!

Oh and side note; my wife insists on calling the lawnmower a tractor. No,no it's not!!

Tonya works for John Deere and they call everything a "tractor" its a damn lawnmower.:shaking:

Girlfriend calls everything that we see while wheeling a jeep. When we go to a meeting she tells everyone she is going to jeep club
