Project Speedbump is at it again.... this is seriously starting to take the joy out of the build

The passenger side header isn't fitting. The block is 1.5 inches closer to the P side for steering shaft clearance. And I have measured and measured. This doesn't change the motor mount location. Motor mounts are properly positioned. Trans is properly in the middle with the 1.5 offset.

Best I can figure. These eBay headers are not true and the pics seem that way too. Can anyone offer any advice? Yes I plan to contact the seller but not high hopes.

Passenger side and you can see the close up of how much it needs to rotate and it's already touching the mount.

Best I can figure is try to raise the engine with spacers on the trans mount. An inch and see if that helps clear the mount? Here is pics of the headers side by side

Hard to explain sure but looks like you have a tad of adjustment in your motor plate?
Can they whole match be pushed back 2 inches?

The block plate has three holes. I can move back one more hole which would be 3/8 to 1/2.

Hard to see how much channel would be necessary, but even so, it would be a non issue to me; i wouldn't second guess it at all.

This.
Take your time and channel it with a round radius. Then you can re-plate it with round tube that has been cut in half. That will be aesthetically a nice a touch.

i must not be understanding what yall mean by channeling. Got any pics?

@UTfball68 you said you use these exact same headers? Same vendor from ebay? Have you had any issues with variances in the design? You got a passenger one I could see if it fits?

Cut out where it hits so the headers align properly. Plate back over the hole you just made with appropriate thickness steel.
Make sense?

Sorry...you'll have to refresh me on the details. I typically go Sanderson or Mad Dog...what are these???

tried to do a drawing. haha. the red would be a tube cut in half and plate to the otherside?

i also have this 2+" x 1/4" DOM sitting here. Possible to cut off the mount and fab something? Im not a fab'r tho...

if you look between to the two block pics. back and and forth. you see the difference big by eyeballing the 3rd tube. Hopefully the bay seller is honorable. Anyone on here familar with any nc4x4 vendors that do LS swaps and carry headers for the swaps they do? If i just had a properly made passenger header it would be a non issue!!!!!

Thanks!

Who's to say the header isn't "properly made"? Just channel the motor mount and be done with it.
Exactly. I can say I've never seen a set of headers that were symmetrical left to right anywho. Typically for clearance purposes in certain applications most of the time.

If he channels the mount for primary clearance, is the collector going to get into it before it's flush.

Channel so that it doesn't.

To OP; I understand that you may not feel like your a fabricator. I wasn't either til I decided to make shit work.... you can make it work, you've come a long way already. [emoji106]

been playing around with how it needs to move. If i make a cut like this, I could easily invert it and weld it back on and that should be all the clearance I would need. i dont have a dremel that can cut those angles that small/sharp tho, so i may need to find someone who has a plasma cutter and wants some free beer

And I hope I didn't sound whiny in the first post. Just had a deadline of June 1 that was important to me and every speedbump has been a jab to heart for a promise made to a kid coming to see his dad this summer

I did a swap with the exact same headers and motor mounts and had the exact same problem. The customer ultimately decided to go with Sanderson headers which were much more expensive but fit and cleared everything very well. In your position I wouldn't hesitate to cut that motor mount and plate the gap. It'll work fine.
