Getting Up Early....

Just seems like I require alot of sleep for being 23 other guys stay up till midnight or later and seem fine at work

Im the same way. Usually go to bed by 10 and am up at 6. That is a full 8 hours and I cant seem to fight my way out of the bed. Some mornings, I get Maggie out of bed around 645 and crawl back in bed with her. The excuse is "daddy snuggle time". I enjoy it. BTW, Maggie is 2.

I typically wake up 3 to 5 minutes before my alarm goes off, regardless of what time it is set for. The time I have my alarm set for depends on where I am sleeping and/or where I have to work for the day, and each scenario has its own routine. Most times I go from alarm to car in 15 to 30 minutes. On the rare days I don't have to set my alarm I typically wake up between 7 and 8.

I know what you mean I have my phone with 3 alarms set by my bed, a desk clock alarm, and an alarm with no snooze in my bathroom and its still a fight to get out of bed. Funny thing is I'm a very deep sleeper too my mom used to say the only thing between me asleep and dead is a pulse

I'm trying to figure out my new schedule. Wife just got a new job and has to be in charlotte @ 730 so our new alarm time is 5am. Gotta get her coffee, my chocolate milk and daughter breakfast/lunch. I work for myself so i can be late somewhere if i need.

I have worked so many different shifts and crazy schedules over the years that my sleep is undisciplined to say the least.

I never have less than 4 alarms set during the week, 10-15 minutes apart with varying ring tones or alarm tones. Not because I don't get up when it goes off, but because I sleep like a rock. I have to change the ringtones about once every other week or I get used to it and continue to sleep.
Some days I wake up before the alarm clock, sometimes I sleep through the first 3, and sometimes I forget to set the alarms and wake up with just enough time to get to class or work.

On weekends my schedule is insane... Some nights I am out until the sun comes up, some nights I am in bed by 10. Some nights I sleep 2-3 hours, other nights I sleep 10. Unless I have something important to do, I don't set an alarm, and I try not to plan anything important before 10-11 am.

I got to bed between 3am and 5 am. I get off work at 1am, so if you think about it...that's like getting off at 5pm and going to bed at 7 or 8. I generally wake up around 10 or 11, walk my dog, feed her, and sit on my ass until noon or so. Then I get dressed and I leave the house at 1:45 every day. I have to be at work at 3pm and it's only 10 miles away...but I might stop at the store and get a drink or some dip or sunflower seeds to snack on, sometimes I'll get some lunch if the notion strikes me. I get to work 30 to 40 minutes early every day, but it helps to get caught up on what day shift has been doing. Management likes to see that it too; to them, I'm "dedicated", but really...I just don't want to get there and have to immediately start working :D

Every now and again I'll have to work day shift (5-3pm) and I hate it! That means I have to start getting up at 3:15ish....I'm dragging ass until 9am break and then at 3pm I get to fight Cherry Point traffic, school traffic, and everybody else that I don't have to deal with when I'm driving home at 1:30 am.

I basically don't do anything during my 4 day work week. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all depend on if I have any plans. I wake up whenever I feel like it and do whatever needs to be done. If it needs to be done in the daylight, such as mowing grass, I'll do that in the mornings. Otherwise, I'm a night owl anyway, so I can do whatever else at night.

Alarm goes off at 4:30am. Usually hit the snooze button once or twice. We both get up. I shave, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and pack my lunch. By then it is usually 5:30am, and the wife leaves for work. Between 5:30am and 6am I clean up around the house a little, maybe unload the dishwasher etc. At 6am I get our 3.5 yr old up if he is still sleeping. Get him fed, dressed, brush his teeth etc. 6:45am-6:50am I leave with the 3.5 yr old. Drop him off at the daycare at 7am-7:10am. I usually then arrive at work about 7:30-7:40am.

On the weekends we wake up whenever he wakes up which is usually 6:00am-7am.

The 3.5 yr old usually falls asleep about 8:30-9pm. I typically fall asleep about 9:30pm so I get about 7 hrs sleep every night. We usually stay up a little later on fri and sat night, so I still end up getting about 7 hrs sleep.

I set my my alarm for 1 hr earlier this morning...I have to say...I kinda liked it. had time to get dressed and watch some TV and sit down and eat a bowl of cereal. I ended up going to bed around 11:30-12:00 last night and woke up at 6:30a.m....and I feel pretty good.

I used to be able to deal with only 5-6 hours of sleep a night and be fine, but as soon as I started getting 8 my body got used to it again, now trying to force my body to need less sleep and keep myself up longer at night. I typically lay down in bed at around 10:30 on weeknights and use the ipad till about 11:30 now, and wake up at 7:10am (with the alarm starting to go off at 6:45) to be at work at 8:30 (leaving the house at 7:50).

Im set on that 12 to 6am wake up. I usually have at least four alarms on my phone set one in the hotel room and I get the 6am wake up call. So im out of bed by 15-20 after make my shake and pack my lunch. Then watch the weather, then apply sun screen and get dressed. I have to be at the crew cab ready for the morning meeting at 7. For anyone thats having trouble feeling tired Google sleep schedule i think... my mother-in-law was talking about it helping her out.

I've noticed one thing in common with everyone who has ever mentioned "sleep schedule"... they don't have young kids.

My kids are great sleepers, but with 3 kids between 4 and 8, I don't remember the last time I slept all the way through the night. Between, "Mommy... I peed..." and "Can I sleep on your floor?" and "I heard a dog outside my window." and a bunch of other stuff, it's just near impossible to have that perfect combination of everyone so zonked that they sleep through the night without (them) peeing the bed, vomiting, sleep-walking or what not else. That doesn't count random fire trucks, phone calls, dead smoke detector batteries, talking Eeyore toys at the bottom of the toy box or anything else that seems to wake us up in the middle of the night.

I used to be able to sleep through a freight train whistle, but now that I have kids, I sleep as though I'm on perpetual guard duty.

Yea no kids and I live in a hotel during the week for work.

That's about how I was when I worked as a consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers. They put me up in some nice hotels, but it was a crap-shoot from week to week if the bed was comfy or not. Most comfortable bed I've ever stayed at was at the Hotel Giraffe in New York City. Unfortunately, even a really comfy bed can't fight 24 hour a day traffic noise. I absolutely HATED NYC after that - even if I was in a swanky hotel.

I would trade you for getting woken up by the old lady who called 911 at 3am because she hasn't been feeling well since 9am yesterday (and was sitting with her suitcase ready). At least you're dealing with your own family's issues lol.

No alarm here. Wife gets up and gets ready from what ever time and is out the door at 7. My job is to take care of the baby until she leaves with her mom. So most mornings(almost every morning) that consists of us sleeping till 7. Most nights the baby sleeps in her bed all night but some nights she doesn't and we snuggle till 7. After they are gone I'm up and getting ready for work.

If the baby would consistently sleep till 7 in her own bed I'd be up 5:15 or so and working out.

Once summer rolls around and my wife is not going to work that is the plan.

We were recently out for spring break and I was up an hour or two earlier every morning to go work out. It was great. But on the flip side of that I was also getting into the bed about 8:30-9:00 every night.

I have been doing good....seems that all I needed to do was leave our blinds open in our bedroom. I get up now an hour earlier and its been working out great. Im feeling a bit more tired at night which is what I was after so that I could fall asleep easier. Gonna keep this going for the next month to see if I can make it a habit.

I am always up 10-15 minutes before I need to leave the house. I go in from 5am-7:30am depending on work load. We have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 6 yr old and I find it's hard to get enought sleep. I am with ManglerYj, the kids make bed time interesting. For us, it's more of the ammount of time in the bed rather than being awaken at night though.

my schedule:
4:25 get ass out of bed(alarm set for 4:30)
4:30 on crapper
4:45 in shower
