Recently I helped a friend sell a slide in camper, from his former truck. I had a buyer within 2 days, & we agreed on a "pick up day" of Thursday. None of us get home before around 6pm., but it's not dark til 8:30-9. The buyer had a far piece to drive, but I hoped he might take off early. Well, same as my luck is, he got tied up at work. But he made it by 8:30! Of course, my friend's house has no outside lights. And the camper is in the cramped back yard, inside a fence. I brought my CJ, as to show it off for the NC4x4 members, &, just in case. Also some special tools, my friend can't friend. As requested, the buyer brought a long bed 3/4 ton truck, because that's what the camper had been on, & fits. the Deal is done, so lets get it loaded! Now, the New Dodge Mega cab 2500 4x4 Cummins, is a bit Longer, than the old 85 2wh dr 3/4.
Camper is pointed towards the rear fence. Ah, Mega cab, can't get turned in the space. Hey, I'll get my CJ, & using a fence post, snatch block, & my winch, Slide the rear of the truck, into position. With the Dodge spinning the rear tires, the Slide worked! Now just back under the camper. Darn, 3/4 4x4, is too high. So, I deflate the rear tires, while the other guys work at getting the jacks as high as they'll go. Hey, cleared by 1 1/2 ", Perfect! Tie it down, whilest I pump the tires back up, with my on-board air. Don't forget to tie the rear door shut, as it doesn't latch. O, by the way, Now we all realize, the camper covers the trucks tail lights; Swell. So, finally, it's ready to go, I'll back the Jeep out so you'll have more light to back the rig out. It's only about 9:30. I haven't mentioned that the double wide gate, has a tree near the center of it, & is next to the house. I mean, the Mega Thing made it In, Barely. Now it's too the gate, with the Driver being able to see nothing, backing, & 2 spotters with flashlights, giving different directions. I'm holding the gate off the front fender. Personally, I would have gone on the left side of the tree, but I don't want to be Bossy! They choose the right side. O, It's So close, almost, just a tad more, WHOO! One side of the 10' tall camper is in the house gutter, the other side 1" from a tree big tree limb. My friend, that likes to have a few, gets on a ladder to move the gutter. He ends up bending it up out of the way, saying I can fix that latter. Some new "rash" on the camper, but it's clear of the house. Moan back! Crunch! That was the tree limb. Back to Mr. Jeep again. Winch to that Bad Bad limb, pull it back; Now your clear! What's a little more "character" in the camper. Now that your on the road, stop by the Walmart on the way to the Interstate, & hope they got magnetic tail lights. Happy Motoring!
[Hope you enjoyed that, what Tales you have?]

Story of my life. I always find a way to make it work, but it's never as easy as it should be.

Wow! That thing wouldn't fit in any singular parking spot

I suppose it was a crew cab truck. Each manufacturer call their doors, different things, like double cab, crew cab, mega cab, ect. It was dark, & seeing 4 full size doors, well I hear More about Dodge having the mega cab.
