We are on a rural carrier route. The normal mail carrier does some packages, but I have seen a few times they have another carrier that only runs packages (in the back of a pickup, rain or shine).

Post office rules say that carrier has to deliver packages to front porch as long as driveway is under 1/2 mile, and is not gated. Not been a problem so far.

Several times leading up to Christmas, we did not get a package that was "out for delivery". Always got tagged with a late (6pm to 815pm or so) reason/excuse. Things like "business closed" (this is a residence), "address not visible", "no access to location", etc. It was obvious, it was late, dark, and they wanted to go home instead of down another long dark driveway.

They reached a new low today. Our regular carrier was by at 3:07 pm (time stamp on parcel tracking on a package left inside the mailbox).

Prior to that, at 2:45, two packages were left at the gate. The gate hasn't been closed in weeks, but was closed when we got home. Obviously, package carrier didn't want to drive the length of the driveway, so dumped the packages there (with rain today), and pulled the gate shut, providing the excuse (gate closed). Wish I still had a game came placed at the gate to have caught that.

If it's not raining too bad tomorrow afternoon, I got some work to do out by the road, so will try to time it to catch my regular carrier and see what she says about it.

Tonya has had a lot of trouble w the P.O over Christmas w similar reasons given. She shipped two boxes to a guy out west some where. One was smallish and the other was a pretty good sized box.Btoh to the same address, shipped the same day.One was delivered but the other was sent back due to some BS excuse about the address bein inaccessible or some bullshit like that.Per the tracking info the large package was marked undeliverable on the very same day the smaller was delivered to the same address.I ordered a AR kit from Ceratac a few mnoths ago.Came home one day to see the box leaned up against the mail box.I live on the road all the drunks and folks tryin to avoid the law use to go to town, its a wonder it didn't get stolen.

919-774-4926 office number. Ask for postmaster. Complain

Guy I went to HS with has recently taken over down there. He's down 20 people at the moment. Apparently a lot of problems in Sanford

This. Small local post office, why not just call and talk to the postmaster about it.

Here. our postal folks do the route 2x. First they run in the morning and deliver packages. Then she comes back around again w/ mail. Our mail lady is super nice and always friendly, always puts things on the porch out of the rain.
During the run up to Christmas, they had another guy, I'm sure to help with the load... a lot of packages put up against the garage door instead of on the porch. I almost ran over one of them b/c numskull put it right in the center of the door, while I was home.

Is this a thread to complain about temp workers, or government employees? Or both? And why the surprise?

Just to be clear, Postal employees are not technically government employees. We don't need them making us look bad :D:lol: (that's happens enough on its own)

EDIT - turns out this is not clear. I'll probably delete this post if I can't make sure.

Don't get me started on the USPS
Back in MARCH, went to the local PO to ask about moving my mailbox up to our gate, 1/3 mile from where it was (I've read and been quoted the same specs as @kaiser715 )... in between 2 curves of a heavily used road, there wasn't enough room to pull over and walking across was sketchy (Danger factor was parroted by the actual carrier.).
Not to mention the carrier not even trying to fit parcels/packages in the fawking box... instead making me go to the PO to fetch them?

After *only* 7.5 months of calls/stops every couple of weeks/constant stream of excuses , they "allowed" me to move it across the road (large graveled right-of-way)... better/safer, BUT *NOT* what/where I requested.
WTF, head back down to PO and was told "There's no place to turn around".
Well I ask, what about the UPS/FedEx trucks that deliver to my gate MULTIPLE TIMES EACH WEEK and somehow manage to reverse direction?... crickets

Took the small skirmish victory... moved the mailbox post across the road and installed the largest mailbox I've ever seen! Fawker will hold the weight/size equivalent of 3 cases of beer!
But, also spoke with a grading contractor who'll be out in the spring to remedy a "turn around" (want to keep the UPS/FedEx happy too)... should be a solid CheckMate! :flipoff2:

Same story here in Julian. The usps delivery absolutely sucks. We’ve had packages left in the driveway, in the yard, on top of the mailbox, Hell we’ve had packages delivered at a completely different address 15-20 miles away. I’m afraid to have anything shipped using usps anymore.

On the flip-side of that coin..... we are blessed to have the sweetest (and cute) little mail carrier anyone could ask for. She goes out of her way to make sure things get done right. If it's wet, she bags and ties any packages. We've had her for 3-4 years now. Hope we can keep her for at least 20 more! :)

I do understand the frustrations though... we have had a few that weren't worth crap! :shaking:

Just caught the mail guy...he brought a package up to the house just now. He is a substitute carrier for a few days while our regular (Lisa, who is fantastic) is out.

He said he left a couple of packages at the gate yesterday and asked if I got them in before the rain. Said he thought from his notes that this house was farther back, further than required delivery. Almost an apology for leaving it by the gate yesterday. (BTW, the gate is 325 feet from the paved road, where our driveways split). My neighbor was outside today, and told him it wasn't that far, just over the hill. I asked him outright if he closed the gate, and he owned up to it...wanted to be sure, in case the house was within range, that he wouldn't get in trouble(he'd just be lying to his boss). He said no more problems since he knows where the house is now.

Still....

My biggest complaint with the usps right now is an undelivered check. I mailed a payment nov. 23 to cover workmans comp. Didnt keep up with it clearing the bank. Got a notice to pick upa letter at the annex that needed signed for when the snow hits. First time i go by noone can find my letter. Second time i got it and had less than 24 hrs to get a payment made before my coverage was cancelled. Not good for business. So im looking like the ass whos saying the checks in the mail. It still hasnt shown up anywhere.

I get Really good service, being in town & having a circle drive, as does my neighbor across the street. We still have front porch mail boxes. Carrier drives through my driveway, & then circles across the street. They don't like parking on the street, which at our houses IS dangerous. Only minor problem, is Not blocking the driveway, which is Rare. Fedex brings most of any packages, along with USPS, & drop them on the porch. Hedge hides the porch floor.
