Need 100ft of 5/16" and 125-150ft of 3/8". Also probably a couple of those fancy thimbles. Any 4x4 vendors that can close to the sub-$100 eBay prices for the rope?

Bought mine from here.

a lot of other places like eBay and Amazon that are selling the same stuff for cheaper.
Since there isn't any semblance of "what's right" and/or adherence to copyright laws in china.JPG no one thinks a thing about mass producing a product as a near exact copy (but with cheaper materials) and even replicating the labels and UL knowing full well nothing has been tested whatsoever. It's truly the most unethical thing you could do in the business world. Yet there hundreds of factories in China dedicated to this very process. And Winch rope is one of them. Neither Bezos nor Fleabay vendors care. They just move product.
Personally winch line is just something I'm not willing to take a risk with.

YMMV

Mine was Amazon, 100’ for $89, Dyneema fiber.

Wasn’t someone here selling some a while back?

Yeah, but why pay extra when it's the same thing at a markup? For example, the "Diamond Line" at custom splice:
"Diamond Line Synthetic Rope is the Custom Splice house brand. It is comparable in strength and durability to AmSteel Blue."

I guarantee you it is the same China rope that's on ebay for $90, but twice the price because it's sold through a reputable vendor.

You could very well be correct in this case.

However, I know personally, (in my world) vendors that make that trip to China and follow their supply chain at every link to ensure the factory THEIR product is being produced in, is meeting the standard, and they aren't buying from the suppliers that have factories that are producing knock-off junk. Those folks have a salary to be paid, plain tickets to pay for, and quality control losses to account for. Yes...it ends up costing you MORE for that QC, and yes....I appreciate your skepticism, but I've seen the personal pride that comes from making sure the product is right on several different platforms.

Possibly. I've got the Diamond line. If it is the China kind it works.

Remember that one you popped in Cripple Creek that I sold you? It was from Amazon. It worked great until it got cut on that bolt in yer wanch spool that day in Cripple Creek. I have no idea where it came from but here's the link. The only reason I bought it instead of the the other 500 amazon specials is because a couple misfitz had it already and it seemed to be of good quality.

Amazon product ASIN B074J1S8NQ

Amazon at least has the reviews. If you see a bunch of “shite broke yo, second pull!” Then it probably isn’t good quality. The one I bought had a ton of “Had it over a year and used the shite out of it and it is great” type posts. You’re still taking a shot in the dark but I would bet there isn’t much of any of it made in the US.

I also know, several years back, was working with a few China vendors (alibaba) to have some custom recovery straps made with a custom logo. Had a few proofs sent (the idea never took off) and one of the companies offered me a free sample of their "super rope"...this was in the height of the aussie rope, slingshot style, strap stuff was all the rage...and this looked just like the ARB aussie rope. I mean exactly like it except ...the orange was all wrong. It was sorta between tennesse orange and texas orange...too much yellow.

Anyway they offered me this amazing deal of 10,000 units for $25,000. Turns out they were made for ARB and QC rejected because of the color variation they had wrote them off and were trying to just dump them. I thought...where would I ever move 10,000 ropes. Looking back I wish Id have bought them. Im sure I could have made a few doll hairs.

Winch rope is something I will not cheap out on, been in situations where my life or someone else's depended on it. Not just get me out this here mudhole, but I don't want to roll off this 1,000ft cliff
