Good reason not to street race

they weren't even racing

dude does a ricer fly by
camero catches up, as the passenger tells him to slow down..and he does

the accident is caused by the crown vic pulling out in front of htem, PERIOD.

i have "street raced" all up and down the east coast and the ONLY time i've seen a person get hurt...they were being stupid. I've seen only a very few wrecks...and those guys should have known better than to try to put as much power down where they did....there are tons of prepped roads...all the wrecks were NOT on them

I'm not sure I would be boasting about illegally racing on public streets. I don't know about others, but I don't find it extremely impressive. $20 and a trip to a track is a very small price to pay for limiting the risk of killing those not involved in racing.

'My day took an unexpected turn when a driver pulled out in front of me at a traffic light shortly after a "race".' - This is from the video. Looks like a race to me. The title of the video is "Street Racing Collision".

i can read
but i can also watch the video and comprehend what goes on

if they had been doing the speed limit and the crown vic pulled out...the same thing would have happened, but from the looks of the video..they probably WERE doing the speed limit since he had let of a long time before the wreck

We used to do all that mess when I was in and right out of High School.Hell I still have 3 of the cars. One is just almost scary to drive on the street.I thank God and my Lucky stars regularly that I outgrew all that mess.I am glad to be back into Wheeling and I enjoy a weekend in URE a whole lot more than I ever did hanging my butt out there burning some ricer up.I could tell the stories for days but it wouldn't make it any smarter.I agree with the sentiment on here, just pay the $20 and go to the track. We had a whole lot of fun up there too and never risked any poor Family on their way to the Grocery store Lives!!

no...had they been doing the speed limit, the Crown Vic would have pulled out and been moving along before the street racer even made it to that point.

lol..."street racers" huh? and you have no idea when the crown vic would have pulled out...or what the speed limit on that road is...or if they were even speeding. as far as i can tell neither car was on it very hard, or for very long...and both look stock.

facts are, the crown vic caused the accident, agree/disagree....it's a fact.

When I was young, we raced too, but we made the bet, then went somewhere else, usually late at night, on a secluded straight. Someone on the other end to watch for oncoming cars. Usually a 1/4 mile, sometimes an 1/8th
NEVER in town on busy streets, IMO that's just stupid. You may be able to drive great, but you don't have control of so many others that are out there with you.

But as said, $20 is cheap

On a side note, I am just not impressed with the ricers.
If nothing else, my 454, spider intake, with two Holley 780 double pumpers, with 2 1/2" pipes with glass packs, just sounded better.

Plastic "F" bodied turd....is what I saw. Drive a car with steel in it and win your collisions.

15 years ago we ran from bridge to bridge up 220 near Madison..but we were on mens machines, liter+ bikes...and if you weren't willing to put up at least $500 a race, I wasn't going to run my bike. What a dumbasss I was, lucky I never got killed, but pushing close to 200mph was pretty damn invigorating.

Everyone on the interwebz knows ls1s were built by the hand of God.... Therefor had he been really racing he would have been by the crown vic far before it pulled out....

I really agree with Rob it was not the "street racers fault" it was the crown vics fault it seems clear to me.

Now Ive done tons of street racing and been a part of that whole thing but 99% was on a rd late at night. Im not saying I agree or disagree.

Apparently the court system disagreed with you. They probably don't know what they are doing though.

**ahem**

it's all fun and games until someone near & dear dies as a result of someone else's reckless driving, amirite?

It's complete dumbassery, take it to the strip and get that time slip.

I bet the Crown Vic couldn't see the 2 cars coming around that other car, but it is dumb to do it on a road with all those possible points of entry and egress on it.

Getting older and wiser (for me) doesn't mean that I've stopped having fun in the car/bike, just that I'm generally more selective about where and when I break the law. ;)

according to the caption, yes "street racers"...
To quote, "shortly after a "race". & "I do not recommend illegal street racing to anyone. It is highly dangerous."

Everybody knows that if 2 cars take off fast together they were street racing........... Ive been pulled for this before and had to pay a lawyer and wasnt even racing never got above the speed limit did not lose traction just took off beside another car rather quickly.

So yea Id say the courts can be wrong. Its all a matter of their opinion and what the cop says doesnt matter if the cop is right or wrong.

Ya, these guys didn't deserve punishment at all. In fact, they should have sued that Crown Vic driver for every penny they had.<sarcasm>

"I ended up being sentenced to 120 days in jail, two years of probation, and 100 hours of community service" - You're trying to tell me that this case was the cop's word vs. the driver's? You saw the video right? All the other vehicles around, the driver admitting to racing, the fact that there is an actual in car video of the event. Not sure what more it will take to make this street racing.

Nah, they weren't racing. GSRswapandslow said they weren't really racing... and he's a street racer himself, so he knows what that sort of thing looks like. And like he said, you don't know how fast they were going, but he does, and he knows the Vic was at fault.

You're just going to have to take his word for it.
