Guys and gals. I am here to tell you if you get hurt or sick in Morganton. Please by all means, keep going!
My grand-daughter has been sick, little congestion, some coughing. But was eating, sleeping, and so on normally. No temp. So yesterday she gets worse fast. Her mom takes her to Grace, where she is seen by a ER doc, he says she has RSV, sends her home. Within an hour she can hardly breath. Coughing with ever breath, Some of you may remember, she was a premie baby. born 7/31/05 at 1lb, 12OZ. Luckily she was born at Mission in Asheville. She wears a heart and lung monitor. Anyway, so my daughter in law calls us, we tel her to take her to Mission. She comes by here, on the way, and my wife goes with her. ON the way up I-40 her monitor goes off, she had stopped breathing. So of course they pull over to resuscitate her. Call 911, and an ambulance comes and takes her to Mission. The EMS guys give her a breathing treatment, and O2, when she got the the ER she was given more breathing treatment, suctioned, and was doing better almost immediately. This same thing has been done all night. She even eat some around midnight.
I know of so many horror stories first hand, not hearsay, about this place it is pitiful.
SO long story short, Don't even think about taking a sick coon dog to this place, much less a human being. Unless you are looking for a place for assisted suicide.
This is my rant, this is my opinion.

I swore to never return to that place back in the 70's. I can relate to you two very bad experiences with that hospital. Ask me about it on the trail some time.

my brother is allergic to bees and was stung once at our mountain place.....well of course he didnt have his epipen...guess who couldnt find one either......

Thats terrible Chip

We'll keep her in our prayers, as well as you guys....

Kids are tough! Much tougher than the parents and grandparents falling to pieces watching as they lie helpless on the ER bed.

Won't go into detail, but my daughter had a seizure at 6 months and had to be revived...and sent to Baptist for 2 spinal taps....etc

we fell appart. she's 4 and never the wiser.......however, both my wife and I still get all weapy thinking about it

She is still taking breathing treatments. Still on O2, having to be suctioned almost continuous, and has a fast drip IV. My son, who is in the Army National Guard, left for Indiana Thursday, before going to Iraq. The Red Cross talked with the doctors, and to the Army, he is flying back in today at noon to be with his daughter.

OMG!

1970's!

If I had known about that hospital when my daughter got bit by a blackwidow, I would have never taken her there! They didn't even know how to treat that kind of bite. No one knew how to administer the anti-venom, etc.

Larry, I will be sure to ask next time I see you!

Chip - best wishes for a speedy recovery...
