H.R. 5087...If you fellas don't know what this is you should. If your a gun owner or shooting enthusiast you might want to worry. This is the proposed assault weapons ban in the House of Representatives. Without to many details it makes pretty much everything other than a revolver, pump shot gun, or lever action illegal to purchase or sell. As one other person also stated with no grandfather clause it makes owning one now also illegal.

I can only hope. Say it does.....then what. Me and most of my family and friends are now criminals. Its been done in other "free countries".

Neither does any rational person. But some elected leaders think it's a grand idea obviously. How out of touch can you be?

Wait the general public proves it everyday.

That is why it worries me. And yet I almost want it to create a storm. I'm ready for common sense and certain values to be mainstream again.
 
There is a grandfather clause, if I understand correctly. You just can't ever sell or transfer, even through an FFL if I'm reading this correctly. Also, you can only shoot at a federally licensed range.

I don't really see this going anywhere, it's just too batshit.

Dont think it will go anywhere. But, if it does, my wife and I have already decided that our rights wont be stomped on. She doesnt shoot, not her thing. But she knows how and will if the need arises. Even if the law passes, I dont see much happening. They might try and raid a few houses, theyll get a few guns, but the lives lost will be massive I feel. There are many (not saying me, I may quiver in my boots and crap myself, but ill try) will not live on there knees. And there will be a shortage of LEO and military to do the raids, even shorter once the death tolls rise.

Meh,CA chooses not to follow immigration laws,hopefully TN will choose not to follow the gun laws.Thats fair,right???
 
It's unenforceable. Lipservice to a panicky public. What, are they really going to send police door to door to search every house?

Likewise I wasnt familiar with the 3% thing either until that post. I found the same thing you did and instantly found that to be a damn good rallying cry. I mean it literally emotionally moved me., hell yeah. I am a the modern day rebel.

Then later that day I was driving and thinking and...forgive me I am a nerd...and some interesting thoughts about the Revolutionary War were just stuck in my head in conflict with that message.
I was certain there was a higher % of engagement in the Revolutionary war than WW2...I knew I had heard that some where...but if only 3% opposed it couldnt be true.

I knew I had 18 hours coming up in the car last week so...off to books on tape and audible my favorite time passer.

Ok...the 3% wasnt adding up. After a ton of digging the only thing I can find is the 3% correlates to the 80,000 pensions filed after the war that accounts for the 3% of the population.
Now this excludes those who fought and died during the war. Those who fought and deserted. It excludes everyone who fought in militias which by estimates had 2x-3x as many members as the Continental Army.
You also have the Navy (state and federal), privateers, the Continental Marines, and of course the French who were incredibly important to our success but dont meet the strict definiton.


All told looks like it may have been closer to 48%, still a minority...but a far cry from 3%.

Though we may be down to 3% today.
 
This is why 80% lowers are available. They must be banning CNC machines as well :rolleyes:
