First year my son has gone as something from a horror movie instead of a cartoon/kid show character.

Do you live in the only neighborhood in a 2 county radius? Why so many outsiders? Going door to door by car is some seriously lazy shit, what ever happened to walking?

We had that type of stuff when we lived in Charleston, but that was mostly just people from the sticks hitting the high density suburbs because they were lazy.

Our current neighborhood is somewhat secluded and we don't actually get any kids coming around (zero), despite being bordered by a few large new high density development (subdivision hell). We bought candy the first year, didn't give any out, and haven't bought any since. Not even the neighbors pop by with their kids.

We like themes for Halloween (at least I do!) So this year, for our Trunk or Treat at our church, we were celebrity judges from the Worst Cooks in America.

I was Guy Fieri, my wife was Anne Burrell, my daughters were Rachael Ray and Amanda Freitag and my son was Bobby Flay.

The Swagger Wagon got dolled up a bit too...

We had some people driving their kids door to door. The kids were at least 14. They were obviously not from the neighborhood which is OK but driving door to door with tons of people and kids walking up and down the street is not only lazy but dangerous. They so happen to stay on pace with us and I said something to them on more than 4 occasions. They eventually left.

I have no idea why we're targeted so heavily. Golf course neighborhood? Apparently they give out full size "good candy" on the rich end? (I'm at the back door on the ghetto side)

What IS apparent is that they are lazy as hell. Only walkers we saw were the actual residents that we knew. Everyone else was piled 12 deep in a minivan, truck or trailer driving door to door.

Is your neighborhood in a cul-de-sac by any chance? The neighborhood we take our son to is and we like it cause we dont have to worry as much about people driving crazy through it while we are walking with him like we would if we took him around our ghetto-ass neighborhood.

The main neighborhood is actually a straight shot from one main road, to a secondary road with an elementary school near the other end. On weekdays our main road is a superhiway for car riders to cut 00:01:32 off their commute by coming thru our neighborhood en route to the school. My road comes off that main drag, and yes terminates into a cul-de-sac but we're so far removed from the main part of the neighborhood that we rarely get any traffic. Especially at halloween when they see so few lights on our street. 10-12 cars an hour looking for that last bit of lemon to squeeze before they retire back to their home neighborhood I guess.

That used to happen in my old neighborhood and pissed me the hell off.

Not a single tricker treater at my new house. Benefits of an acre of land not in a neighborhood!

Daughter was a giraffe but wouldn't wear her shirt. And damn I have never seen so much glitter in my life. But she had a blast going door to door.

Yeah Halloween kinda sucks when your kids get too old to dress up and go out.We went and ate messican and I was back in the shop by 6:30.Pretty boring stuff.

I know I sound like some old curmudgeon about my neighborhood being swarmed by outsiders.....but IMHO there's just so many things that make me uneasy about it. Sometimes I think my tinfoil is on too tight, then other times I'm justified in my uneasy feelings about things.

This (to me) is slight justification for that uneasy feeling (IF in fact it's true):

Reports: Nails and Needles Being Found in Children's Halloween Candy

The Fremont Police Department on Tuesday shared images of candy with tacks tucked inside and another impaled by a nail, on its Facebook page.

I get paranoid about outsiders there for other reasons...

Last night we had 3 kids arrested for breaking into cars in our neighborhood stealing whatever they found. One neighbor even had her wallet stolen out of her car in her garage. Our neighborhood watch worked really well and within minutes nearly everyone was group texting each other and waited on the cops while we kept an eye on the perps.

I can't help but think that some outsiders use Halloween as an opportunity to get a sneak peek into people's homes and garages, etc where they otherwise wouldn't have access to. That's why I keep the garage closed and either put the candy in a bowl on the porch or give it away while sitting on the front porch.

I turn off every light and leave the house every Halloween,my next door neighbor is a detective and he has a security system like ft Knox. I don't have a whole lot but I'm not opening my door up for everybody to see what's there
