Thinking about buying a Fatboy. I like the Fatboy bobber style with wide rear tire set up and air ride. Anyone have a setup like this and if so how does it handle with non sport riding?
Here's the style I like but without all the chrome.

You going to actually put miles on it, like ride it more than 10 miles at a time? If so they are not comfortable for riding for an entire day.
Not really. I'm thinking short trips 20-30 miles and occasional 100 miles in a day trips.
Here's another more my style. I think it would be more comfortable than the first pics setup.

@CasterTroy loves them, maybe he can share some input

I guess I would be better served with a stock Fatboy. As mentioned most of my trips would be local. 10 miles there and 10 home.
I've seen lowered Fatboy's but don't know if they are rigid or just a little shorter in tear suspension....

Any rigid rear frame is going make you really like your kidneys

The pipes like the first one will make you deaf also

Bike looks good, but its only good to bar hop to the bar closest to your house.
Me no think hes gonna have a good time at the biker bar...… maybe he can sell his mutts there?

Anyway, always wanted to try out a Harley. Just thought someone here might have some info on above concerns.

I've had tons of buddies with similar setups. Air ride is nice but comes with several drawbacks. Mainly just access and hiding everything sufficiently and then fixing it on the road when it inevitably breaks 🙄
I slapped a 250 on my raider because it looked SO much better than stock and it handled fine. I've ridden soft tails with 280s and had a buddy with a 300 and they ride fine as well but you have to do a lot of work to turn them. More work than I care to do.

Besides, the wide rear us going back out if style (if you care about being IN STYLE)

Any of my friends with a fat tire soft tail or hard tail also had either an ultra or bagger to actually ride. Then eventually sold the novelty bike because they never rode it

Long story short....like a soft top jeep..it better not be your only ride or you'll hate it

This^

Plenty of buddies with choppers and bobbers through the years and all have sold. The ones who still ride have 99% stock bikes.

My neighbor has a stock Fatboy he loves but he doesn’t ride more than 50 miles and that’s occasionally.

Ok, I appreciate the info. I think a stock Fatboy or maybe a wide glide is what I would need. I love the look of a low rider with fat tire but comfort is a top priority.

I think a FB is the more comfortable bike.

For extended riding it'll suck. For a bar hopper and to enjoy a few rides it'll be great. Choose your poison.

A Fatboy is not a rigid it has shocks underneath it is based on a softail frame. It is not a bad ride. I have a lowered slammed custom and can do 400 miles in a day. It is all about what you like. I also have a wide glide and a road glide bagger. The bagger is more comfortable but I also ride a custom with a 250 rear and can do a trip to myrtle beach in a day. And i'm an old fart at 53. Don't let a wide tire scare you away I have bikes with a 200,240,250 and a 330 rear. Also have the stock wide glide and road glide. I like the cruiser type bike way better than a crotch rocket. No picture of the bagger.
